So sad. There's a kid a year younger than me in a wheelchair the rest of his life after he was thrown from a car last year. No seatbelts.
They saved my life in about 2004.

Thanks for the thoughts. I'm glad both of my teens get their thrills on the autocross course. Neither one of them will even start a car without seat belts on everyone, including me.
My eldest called me after an autocross last year. He had stopped at a light and a drunk driver hit the back of his Sentra with a Dodge truck at about 45mph. The back of the car collapsed so far the back seat moved about 4 inches. All were belted, and his daughter was in a car seat. Totaled the car, but no injures other than the drunk driver eating the steering wheel because he didn't have a belt on. That phone call scared the crap out of me, even knowing that no one was hurt other than the guy that deserved it.
I can't imagine getting a phone call saying your child was dead. Even thinking about it makes my skin crawl.
In this day and age with all the traffic on the roads, seat belts are a necessity. Even if you are the best driver in the world, most of the other people aren't. I have never had an at fault accident, but I have totaled two trucks.
Be safe guys and gals and thanks again.
didn't read everything in here... but seems this semi applies...
mixed rant... back in 07 a drunk driver hit a mustang that killed 2 passenger... both 20/yo girls... the driver of the mustang lived (worked with him)...
they have been putting up "memorials" and billboards for them showing the smiling girls faces and they basically say "drive sober, obey the law" or something like that... then shows the car trashed and the girls smiling on either side...
my rant... no mention of the fact that neither of them had worn seatbelts... where thrown from the car and died from being thrown... the driver of that car lived because he was belted in... at minimum add the buckle up thing if you're going to tout the "obey the law" bit... but I suppose they wouldn't want to tarnish the tragedy with that...
other rant... would it wouldn't have been such a "tragedy" if they where some fat chicks?... I think not...
side note... it is sad to see any kid die... in HS had a guy i went to school with crash his truck in the woods die... he was drunk coming out from one of the football parties... still sad as he was a kewl guy.
