I'm a breakfast guy. If in don't eat within the first hour or two of the day I get crazy-hungry. I'd like to stick with low fat, quick, filling breakfasts that will keep me going from 7am to noon. I'm kinda burnt out on oatmeal (and I usually get hungry before noon), I was on a granola, yogurt, and fruit kick for a while, but starting to get burnt out on that too. Cereal is alright, but I'm usually freakin' starving by 10:30 and need a snack badly (currently eating trail mix from the work vending machine, because I had cereal this morning, and it's 10:15). Egg and cheese sandwiches on toast keep me sated, but I don't really consider them all that healthy. Any suggestions?

Never been much of a grits fan, but if someone knows of a way to not make them taste like bland mush, I'm willing to give it a shot!

I eat a bagel every morning with a giant vat of Irish breakfast tea. I work at a desk though, so if you are more active, your mileage may vary.

Cory, what about Steel Cut Oats?

I've made this a time or two (there's other variants on the same blog) and i find i'm full for at least 6 hours after eating a bowl of it.

That sounds kinda awesome. Definitely going to have to give that a try.

Just making that single recipe is good for 4 good sized bowls. I found it awesome to make it Sunday night, then have healthy cheap delicious breakfast for the work week.

I love steel cut oats as well, but they tend to be pricey for what they are. I found a method somewhere that was similar to the crockpot link above. You boiled them on the stovetop, but you made enough for all week. I think you brought them to a boil, turned off, covered tightly and let sit overnight. the next morning I put daily-sized portions in tupperware and threw them in the fridge. Heat and eat.

But if you're tired of oats it may not be THAT much different.

Turkey ham, egg whites mixed with some green peppers and onions and whatever. Lo-cal, tasty, and easy to whip up. I eat that for dinner a lot.

Oddly enough, if I'm running late or out of food at home, I either get a bagel with vegi cream cheese and a donut from the local donut shop/bakery, or a 6" egg and cheese flatbread with tomato and green peppers from subway, since they're both on my way to work. But once again, not terribly healthy.

If you're looking for a healthy breakfast, you've pretty much listed the best ones out there. Oatmeal, eggs, greek yogurt, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, protein pancakes (whole wheat pancake mix, one egg, one scoop protein powder and water) are all great. Try mixing things up for variety. Try oatmeal different ways. I put my oatmeal in my protein shake. My wife mixes it with egg whites and water, along with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Subway, for a fast food chain, is actually pretty good. You can choose what you want to put on your sandwhich, so you've got a lot of control over it.

I usually get up around 5:30 every morning and can't make it very long before eating. I eat cereal or oatmeal around six. On work days, I tend to get pretty hungry around 10, so I often boil up four eggs, remove the yolks and eat the whites. That will hold me until a late lunch.

On the days that I actually have the time to cook for myself my all time ultimate most favoritest breakfast consists of:
steak tips marinated in something awesome
2/3 cup of egg whites
fruit bowl

I loves me some of that and it gives you everything but the grain but with such a carb-loaded society we have become I can't imagine it's that big of a deal. If it is have something along with it like oats.

typically bring a hard boiled egg and a banana (or orange) to work. drink coffee on the way to work, eat teh egg after I have settled in at the office, then mid morning if I start feeling hungry, eat the fruit. not really filling but holds me over till lunch.

I figure its better than skipping breakfast which i did for many years.

I have been going with Oatmeal for a long time. Steel cut oats are great, but a bit of an effort to make.

I can be bland, but I mix in brown sugar and whatever fruit is laying around (frozen strawberries from Costco are a good for this). Keeps me full and many times I don't even feel like eating lunch. I do eat a LOT of it though (probably around 4 cups!). Adding cereal as a filler / sweetener helps mix things up a bit.

Another vote for steel cut oats. I put vanilla protein powder and a handful of frozen strawberries in mine.

One I particularly like is a slice of home made bread (a kind of rustic easy made stuff), a slice of white aged cheddar and an apple. If I need a bit more protein I will dig out an egg or some meat I have in the fridge. This is one of my favorite breakfasts.

We make a big pot of Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats over the weekend for breakfast all week. We totally gave up cereal after finding that virtually none of it is without HFCS. The steel cut oats are very filling and tasty. My favorite topping a little agave nectar and some raisins. Also good with apple slices, strawberries, and peaches. On weekends I'll pan fry (no oil) some vegan snausage (Tofurkey Kielbasa, freaking amazing) and toast up some Dave's Killer Bread.

When I need to mix it up I like making real grits (one ingredient, corn, not the processed insta-crap) with a little butter and salt. Homemade hasbrowns are great, too (potatoes pan fried with just a touch of olive oil, salt). Pop in some diced peppers with the hash browns.

Tofu scramble can be good, but it's tough to make. You need the extra firm tofu, wrap it in a towel and put a big soup can or similar on it to squeeze out the water. Crumble and pan fry (no oil) with the "tofu scramble" packet (it's spices, oats, and such), again add some diced peppers. I like it with green Tabasco.
