If she instead broke her ankle, would anyone be mad that she didn't continue with competition?

I mean when Kerrie Shrug broke her ankle her coach and the United States gymnastics association pushed her to continue to compete, and she did, causing permanent damage to her ankle that caused her to have to retire at the age of 18.
So yes for all the wrong reasons there would be people that should be looking out for her best interest who literally would be angered if she didn't compete on a broken ankle. Which is part of the problem.
The Olympics have been chewing up kids and spitting them out for a long time. I'm not sure why everyone is surprised now. For every kid you see there are 100s that were cast by the wayside. It's the nature of the competition.
As to my daughter, the good doctor would have pulled back a stump. She has an iron-clad sense of right and wrong. Cross that line if you dare. I'll leave her just the way she is.
