how about i hate him because he is a gator for what they did to ohio state 2 years in a row?
look up timmy and his dad and the family ministry - i have a strong dislike of what their family says and does not because it's any different from me but because they use lies to further their agenda.
i have nothing against anyone because of what they believe in, it is when they are manipulative about it that i begin to have issues even if they share my belief or opinion. nobody said anything about how his beliefs may or may not align with mine - for all you know i could have gone to catholic school for 12 years, sang my heart out at church and believed every word i was told, and had a strong spiritual relationship with jesus.
All of have to say is that the UK defensive lineman made one hell of a nice hit. It was just to bad that the offensive lineman's knee was there.

I assumed it was religion that brought out hatred, because I can't imagine something as dumb as football bringing it out.
Didn't watch TV all weekend till I stopped by a sportsbar in Tallahassee this afternoon to catch the F1 race (yes, I asked them change one TV out of 22 to Speed). Saw that FSU lost to USF!!! FSU now has the 4th best team in Florida!!! Who the hell loses to the friggin Bulls?!?!?!
I don't hate the guy, he seems nice enough and he's certainly a great player. Being a Big Ten fan, I don't really have much of an opinion on SEC players from a football standpoint. Having said that... I'm just tired of hearing about the guy and how wonderful he is in the sports media. I'm tired of hearing about his stupid speech from last year, I'm tired of hearing about how just spending a few minutes with him would make me a better person, I'm tired of the hype, not the person.
Two Things:
1) The great irony of this injury is that Tebow got hurt playing the way he needs to play if he is to have any hope of succeeding in the pro game (i.e. being a pocket passer). I just don't see the guy succeeding as a QB in the NFL with his current skill set. I think whoever drafts him should draft him as a TE that can occasionally throw a ball.
Personally, I don't really care much about this faith or his politics or whatever. He's got his deal, I've got mine. If I hated everyone that disagreed with me I'd pretty much hate everyone, and I don't have time for that.
2) Tim Tebow could heal the diseased eyes of a crippled third world infant while he craps ice cream cones into an orphanage and he still wouldn't be as cool as Kenny Powers.

you must not follow college sports very much... the phrase "I hate____"
fill in your own team / player, is pretty standard fare this day n age ....
as I said earlier IMO the word is used a bit too often...

Wait a minute... patgizz made it COMPLETELY clear that he was A) dealing with rather strong feelings, which exceed normal team loyalties, and B) NOT talking about anything that had anything to do with football.

agreed to the billionth power - i frigging hate that guy not for his football but because of his agenda off the field.
I think patgizz jumped pretty deep into the manure extremely rapidly without anyone else's help- I see no reason that everyone else now owes him an apology.
Come on, patgizz. A fan of the man's athletic talents starts a thread voicing his admiration for his skill, as well as his concern for his well-being, and you've got to drag it into the mud. You are perfectly entitled to your political perspectives and your own agendas- do you have to be so negative so quickly on someone who a lot of people admire?

You may be right. Tebow's greatest skill is not as a technically proficient QB. It's as a leader. He wins because he's a great leader, whether or not he is a great player. It will be interesting to see if those skills can make it in the NFL.

It's interesting to me that so many people who disagree with his personal beliefs are so familiar with them, his speeches, or his father's ministry.
I happen to be a Christian, so I guess my personal beliefs may be a bit in line with his. But I have never heard a single word of his "agenda", nor his speeches, and I know absolutely nothing about his father's ministry.
I just like to watch him play football.
If there was not an offensive linemen behind tebow after that hit he woulda got strait up, that hit just set off a chain reaction where Tebow's head hit his linemans knee and whipped his head forward...hence causing the whiplash/concussion. So technically it wasn't the guys hit that knocked tebow out it was the knee of a gators o-line (and for you that lack the literacy of football jargon...thats OFFENSIVE LINEMEN "o-line").
For those of you hating on Tebow....the guy is most likely the best college football player ever. Who gives a crap what he does off the field, it's way better than what most people are out doing. I'd actually rather not know what most professional football players do off the field because I would lose every bit of respect for them, at least Tebow is trying to help the less fortunate out...I guess, but then again he isn't a pro per say.
I'd rather read a post about Tebow any day as well over some of the post about futile automobiles that people on this board lust over for some reason.

Oh, Pat... you guys should have bought a better team ;) (Mind you I am 100% Gator and my daughter is 100% Buckeye... I give her the same crap)
And how about them Seminoles?

About USF- That is a very young program at a "Commuter" school. They have made some pretty interesting progress in that time, to where they have been nationally ranked. (No, not for long, but still...) Quite well coached, and using players that were not persued by the other Florida schools. The convincing win over FSU was not a fluke, just good football played by a good team.
dunno what all this talk about florida footbal is all about, there were 2 wins in cincinnati football this weekend, I am a happy camper...
AND, as for this Tebow guy everyone talks about, the way I see it, he wasnt shot by his adulturous lover, punching dogs in the face, using his thigh for target practice, drowning kittens, or raping orphaned nuns...he has (or at least appears to have) some semblance of a moral code...an attribute rare to the "stars" of his sport - pro or otherwise - and has done more to help other people than most on this board, myself included, so I cant give him too hard a time even if he is a walking massengill commercial
I never really followed college football but I guess when the Dolphins are your NFL team you have plenty of time to watch kids play.

+1. He is a good kid, and a very good football player. For the media to put him on a pedestal is stupid (and there's really no one to blame).
I hope he's hurt so badly that he won't be able to practice for another week. I don't want him to be permanently disabled or injured--just enough so that he always remembers this hit, and for that reason alone, he never plays to his fullest ability. Hopefully, he has to rely on something other than football to make a living for the rest of his life.
I'm proud to be a Buckeye fan.

And I'm sorry for those who didn't understand what this post is about. But if someone makes a post about Star Wars (of which I couldn't be less of a fan), I'm surely not gonna ridicule them. I just won't comment. I don't need a high post count.

yeah, that is too bad that he didn't get hurt earlier, then maybe ohio could have been spared the embarassment of getting stomped by florida in two sports in the same year.
sadly, this sounds like the majority of OSU fans that i've encountered. "if we can't beat 'em, hope they have a career ending injury! yeah! that'll make us feel better about not being good enough!"
