No it does not produce 300hp but the Evo is known to f-ing print money

It comes with the territory of folks who can make cars do amazing things for a grand or two, there's a bit of craaaaazy involved. I have a few friends that got the EVO on launch day and it surely does live up to the hype. Just make sure you have a very long extension cord.

My point on making that comment was the air of douchebaggery that some have because of it.

That's one thing I've read about the EVO is crap battery life.

Droid X. I am picking one up this weekend. I rooted my Verizon droid, but the processor is just too slow and the Droid X is just a better phone. To the guy having problems with the update to 2.1. Do a forced update and see if that helps.

^I just don't know if the Droid X is worth the increased service cost over two years.

It depends on what you do with it. It's a write off so it really is a non issue with me.

I was going to point out the Evo requires 4g to be of any use, I'd heard. I'm having luck with Verizion now after being on AT&T since old Alex Bell's days with the company.

So... I guess I have nothing to add.

Yeah, the other half gets to write off hers, but I do not.

There isn't THAT big of a price difference, but part of the reason for us ditching the iPhones and getting on the same plan is to save as much money as possible.

Right now she pays $130 a month for just her iPhone (I pay $105 with company discount), BOTH EVOs would be about $125/month + tax, so around $140-145.

Only saves me about $35/month, but she gets to cut her bill in half.

That's not entirely accurate. The phone works fine on 3G networks, its just not better than everyone else unless its on a 4G network. I have heard that when you switch it to 4G mode it kills battery life...

Sold Out?
Try Radio Shack for the Evo as well as Best Buy.
Radio Shack's claim to fame is the 90% of the US population lives within 3 miles of a Radio Shack. A twenty mile radius could net you 20 or more locations. Actually, any one Radio Shack should be able to web-search and tell you which stores do have them.

Tried Best Buy, didn't think about RadioShack.

I guess I should say that after all my bitching and moaning about my HTC Droid Eris, one day after all my bitching and moaning, they released an update. I had no idea it was going to come out (I don't pay attention to phones, but my brother-in-law does and he had passed the bit about the last update being the final one for that platform). Well, they seemed to have fixed it. After a couple months of freezing, its syrupy-slow past is just that - the past. It works fine now. It's all the phone I could need. It's a lot more phone than I need, as in getting a cupcake that turns out to come with six pounds of icing on it. But it was cheap. And they actually got it to work in only a couple months.

Droid X owner here, preordered it and picked mine up the day it came out.

Omaha doesn't have a 4G network, and I'm not a huge fan of Sprint anyway. If it had, I may have just purchased an EVO instead. I may have also gone with the Incredible, but they were all delayed PAST the Droid X launch date.

Pluses for the Droid X: The TI processor is by most accounts superior in power management to the Snapdragon. Multitouch works better 3 mics for better sounding phonecalls 480x854 I think the case is much better designed. More metal. Lighter

They're both really good phones, Sense is a good UI, the "Ninjablur" on the X is good too (terrific keyboard). Both UIs are delaying the update to Froyo, though.

If you're in a rush it'll probably be easier to find the EVO. If you're not in a rush, I'd look into the Samsung Galaxy S.

I'm still trying to decide between the incredible and droid x on verizon. I'm up in the air, and might just wait til X-mas for the droid 2 to arrive.
