He'd have had a more illustrious political career if he'd put up the same kind of fight for Mary Jo Kopechne's life.

Amen.

I didn't agree with guys policies/past actions, but let's not speak ill of the deceased.

FU
RIP teddy
I'll grant him the same respect I will to anyone recently deceased. However, I've never bought the Kennedy mythos.
Kennedy's: like them or not.
I still enjoy all the sailing and Martha's Vineyard stories. Maybe I just like Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard.......

Same here...I will have a house on the Vineyard.
RIP Mr. Kennedy.
There is plenty of ill that could be said against Ted and the rest of the Kennedys, but this probably isn't the time to say it. I never would have voted for him but he did good for a lot of people, and it's sad that he's gone.
He was no saint. He was no genius.
But do not let that stand in the way. He was the greatest legislator of our time and his 47-year record speaks for itself.

That's a very mature response there, Pat.
Read this and then defend that he doesn't deserve a measure of contempt:

And no, I didn't feel compelled to espouse about "all the good they did" when Joe McCarthy and Saddam Hussein died, either.

Yes he is.. that entire generation is now gone.
Speak good or bad of Ted.. he must have been doing something right to stay in the Senete that long

I believe that there are two Sister's still alive....
Speak ill of the dead? Sure I can. Why should I suddenly pretend to like the man? He's dead, his judgment is due, and I don't have to worry about him again. His tenure in the Senate was a testament to good old boy politics and lack of effective rivals in Massachusetts.
On the upside, Mary Jo's been avenged finally.
