Mainly the 6 spd manual. I know the automatics had problems.
I'm considering a 2010 4wd v6 with 62k. Not going to tow. Just for hauling stuff that's needed around the house and the 4wd will come in handy in the winter driving to work.
15900 asking price.
Don't want a new truck.
Automatics didn't have problems, The radiators had problems. Plumb in an external cooler and there is no issues.
Other than that they are pretty simple trucks nothing fancy about them. True body on frame with the front suspension very similar to the titan. the 4.0L is pretty well sorted. Really not a lot of issues with them by that time in the production run. I like our xterra a lot which is very similar to the frontier.
Well, I didn't buy the 2010. It was beat. I stopped at the Nissan dealer and picked up a 2014 automatic with half the mileage and nothing broken ( yes open on a Sunday).
Does a 2014 have the same radiator issues as the older trucks??
No. Supposedly they fixed it when they moved the production to MS in 2011.
I still plumbed in an external cooler just to be safe anyways. That and I tow and off road my xterra a decent amount.
I've had no issues with my 2012 6spd truck, and the 2006 my Dad had a few years back did its job well too. Other than the radiator issues on early trucks, some also had timing chain or chain guide trouble in the early years. My only complaints are that the bluetooth system isn't great and for phone calls only (no audio streaming) and the turning radius can be beaten by some tanker ships.
