I've watched literally 15 minutes of tennis in the past 10 years - which was long enough to see Federer hit this shot live last night.

I watched the girls last night. Saw one of the best series of volleys I EVER saw in tennis. The crowd gave them both a round of applause when it was over

I've used the same shot before... not with quite the same results though....

made between the legs shots in racquetball that turned out to be winners... not nearly as much at stake though..

Lots of players use it. It's one of the only ways to effectively try and hit a passing shot when running down a lob over your head. It's kindof an all or nothing shot. Looks great when it works!

BTW, Did anyone see Serena go all nuts on the linesperson? She just didn't understand why the tiny Asian woman might be scared of her. She's only one of the biggest strongest players on the tour standing over her threatening to shove a @(%* ball down her throat while shaking her racquet at her. I know I would have been scared of her.

Serena needs to put a potato in her pocket and DIAF.

That said, why did McEnroe never get DQed for his shenanigans. He was way worse.

go back and watch some of Mc's tantrums .... while they were bad, they stopped short of hers ....

that meltdown of hers cost he $ 10,000 ... so far... the governing body has said they may / will add more to her penalty in the future ($ 10,000 is the largest on site fine that is allowable / the players agreement )

I agree with wbjones. I grew up watching Mac and he did say alot of things, but it was always more of a mental thing to get him fired up. Not actually threatening the judge like Serena. Most of the commentators (who are ex-professionals BTW) pointed out that if it had been 1-1 in the first set, Serena would have been DQ'ed without a doubt. She's lucky it just cost her a point (granted it was match point, but rules is rules).

She is REALLY lucky they allowed her to play the doubles matches afterwards
