Hard to imagine how fast this guy was going.

Seems that there a lot (relatively speaking) of these car-chopped-in-half wrecks in recent years. Is that just because of the greater speeds more cars are capable of these days?
It seems like chassis strength and safety has at least kept pace with the increase in potential speed, though.
Just wondering out loud.

The trees are getting faster too.
yep...had a buddy die the EXACT same way...90+ up a hill like a jackass, crested and saw a van almost stopped turning left, stood on the brakes, fishtailed, slid sideways into a tree the diameter of a good softball bat. SVT Contour became twins, and he perished a few hours later. They found the CD that was INSIDE his dash, and the OEM cigarette lighter from the dash about a football field away. The tree is still there, with a scar about a foot tall on the trunk. It doesnt take much apparently...
EDIT - this was 10 years ago now...

So are the internets. If it happens anywhere in the world, you'll probably see it. It used to have to happen in your town.

I have a buddy (who lived, btw) that put a CBR1000 on its side on i380 in PA while adding a wheelie to some on-going top speed testing. His cell phone, which was previously in his thigh pocket, was found under the skin of his ass cheek along with his knee cap.
He still rides fine but he walks funny to this day.
At least he didn't take anyone with him.
This crap is why track days and auto-x exist. Get it out of your system there.

Trying hard not to laugh.

It took me a minute to realize he was no longer attached to "the skin of his ass cheek along with his knee cap" I am fortunate enough to know all I know about "Road-Rash" second hand...
All I know is when I was in college someone stuffed an e46 M3 into a downhill curve and knocked the car in half. Two were killed one left uninjured. I guess the guy was drunk, punched it and it punched back. Weird to drive by the skid and missing tree every day.
