I bought a used AiM Solo 2 DL and it arrived with a dead battery and cabling that is not compatible with my car. I will be buying an OBD 2 cable for it, but I'd like to test the thing before I do that. It has two ports on the bottom: a 5-pin and an 8-pin binder 712(?). I have a power supply that can put out up to 30 volts, and I want to apply voltage to this thing to see if it'll take a charge, wake up, and work.
Here's a diagram from AiM about what does what on that 8-pin port.
1 CAN ECU+
2 CAN ECU-
3 +Vb ext
4 ECU RS232TX
5 ECU RS232RX
6 K-Line
7 GND
8 RPM
I know some of these ports operate at lower voltages. Does anybody know which port the unit draws 12 volts from to charge the battery? The simplest diagram I found in their documentation suggests that I could get RPM and external power with pins 3 (+Vb ext), 7 (GND) and 8 (RPM). This suggests pin 3 is the 12V pin? (I'm guessing here that +Vb means Positive Voltage from_the_Battery.)
