Was that painted? I don't remember them being offered in that shade of red.

Ugly, slow, wasteful, heavy junkers were once all I could afford to drive.
If I had known that you idiots would be lusting after the kinds of cars we loathed even though they were free when our uncles and grandfathers passed on I'd have kept every single one of those pieces of E36 M3 and happily sold them to you for high teens with ridiculous looking wheels included. Hell, even now, I'm sure I could probably find a mid-70s Electra 225 behind some family member's garage they would give me just to get it out of there. They all have low mileage because they got 7MPG so no one could afford to go very far.

We all want what we don't have....

I don't know for sure, as in I never checked the door sticker, but it looked original and the engine bay and interior (hoo boy) were very red as well. Car was an '83. Visually it was a perfect match to Currant Red as simultaneously owned on a '89 Taurus SHO and '89 E150

My 87 Town Car would return 19-20 most of the time on the highway and 15-18 around town. It was also better built than the 85 BMW I currently own, so junker really isn't a fitting description.
You must have been driving the true bottom of the barrel. I tried to stay just above that.
$18K for a 30 year old Town Car is kind of funny though. I think I sold mine to my brother in law for $1500.
I've seen about 8 under a grand in my areas craigslist in the last month including one for 400 today. Its funny how the value of certain cars changes so drastically depending on the area, I see caprices selling for 6 times what I paid for mine in the south in similar shape
There are two 80s Town Cars local to me. One is a nice example, 91K, garage kept and clean. $4800. The other is a junker with 20s and a pealing vinyl roof for $1600.
