I swear there's a couple guys who have been there ~every~ time I've been to the field the past 5 years. They log insane hours, and are addicted, fully. The do a LOT of expensive crashing on the way to that level of proficiency. There's a few guys flying 50 or 80cc Yaks or Extras who can do all the 3D stuff. I can hover and do harriers w/ a small (1m) electric foamy, but the mortality cost of a mistake w/ my 40cc extra is prohibitive.

this.

the heli guys are at the field every time i'm there, and they have spectacular crashes.

also, that heli is pretty wild, but thats not even one of the flybarless ones the 3d guys are using now. they're more responsive and and agile because they don't have the rotor pitch controlled via the flybar, (the paddles between the blades) they are stabilized and controlled by super sensitive gyros and the swashplate acts directly on the blades so there's no delay from action to reaction.

Even in the wold of rc 3D helis that's powerful. That's how ever without any weapons, fuel or pilot.

Yeah the real Apache isn't as good at such maneuvers.

Don't think the cat would appreciate being chased by one of those.

That might already exist as a military grade drone.
