According to the local news, Daschle has withdrawn. Can we just go ahead an do an audit of EVERYONE in Congress? I'm sure just as many Republicans have cheated on their taxes. This would please me.

I foresee a sudden DRASTIC increase in the amount of paid taxes this year...
And the budget gets balanced three months into Bromommas administration.
+umptebillion on auditing everyone in congress. Also, when they get caught, they should have to pay the same fines/ jail time that the rest of us regular "joes" have to pay.
scumbags
Fully agree, especially with the vetting comment.
In this day and age, why isn't every nominee for everything subjected to a full forensic accounting audit. Jeez...between the unreported income, the non-reported "gifts" and my personal favorite, the unpaid taxes for household help, you would think every potential nominee (from either party) would be put through the financial ringer before even getting on the list.
Also, when they get caught, they should have to pay the same fines/ jail time that the rest of us regular "joes" have to pay.
Damned right.
[soapbox] TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS! TERM LIMITS! [/soapbox]
Interesting (maybe) tidbit: Daschle's younger brother used to work at the same Buick dealership I did. He was always bragging about what he could get done through his big brother.

Daschle hasn't been in Congress since 2004. After getting fired, he became a "special policy advisor" for a year, then a lobbyist.
I recommend audits of anyone filing to run for any public office.

How about just a limit on consecutive terms in public office? If they were really good, people will remember a few years down the road.
