What do you mean? I am still 19yrs old 10ft tall and bullet proof.

I don't know who that guy in the mirror is, but he looks surprisingly like my dad!

I turned 40 earlier in July. My present was a big heaping dollop of lower back pain. Going to see a chiropractor today. On top of that, I started getting sciatica pain about a year or so ago. Buying new/ better shoes has helped somewhat.

At least I still wear the same pants size I did when I was 25.

I'm somewhat north of the half-century mark, though my exact age will remain undisclosed. My recipe for staying young is to eat healthy foods, and take every opportunity to play pick-up games of basketball, wiffleball, or whateverball with my 12 y.o. son and his friends. For conditioning, I try to ride my bike 2 or 3 times a week and I go at it HARD! Basically, have kids late in life and then do your darnedest to try to keep up with them as you age. LOL. And don't be afraid to get schooled by your future NBA shooting guard son.

I busted my toe playing NERF war with my kids last night. Going for a bum-rush capture of their flag, I slipped and rolled into their base (the front porch) and planted my big toe into the bottom step. Not broken, but I couldn't shake it off like I used to.

My brother-in-law did the same thing earlier in the game, but scraped up his leg pretty well. The kids ended the game without a scratch, we looked like we'd been mugged.

I'm 34 and apprently all this getting up and down working on cars, computers, and houses has finally come to bite me in the butt, or more precisely the knee. The other day I hopped in the wife's car and when I leaned my leg against the center console my knee had this super weird feeling, looked down and there's a half lemon sized lump on my knee, WTF! It doesn't hurt, and is squishy. A quick google search leads me to believe it's Bursitis. I go to the doc for my regular checkup in a month, if it's still there I'll point it out.

Who doesn't like cougars??

My joints are breaking down and I've got some of my own health challenges, but I'm actually in better physical shape now than I was when I was 25. I'm stronger, faster. So all in all, I'm happy. My 13 year old was talking E36 M3 last night and I told him that I could still outrun him. In fact, I told him that I can run backwards faster than he can run forward. If my next post is from a hospital room, you'll know that I lost that bet...

This. I've felt 30, and looked 40 since I was 18, now that I actually am 30 I feel about 50, and look about 45.

Some people are old men in their 20s, I'm one of them.

Threads Ike this make me feel superhuman or something. I'm 41. I've slowed down yeah but I don't feel like an old man. Now I'll probably get arthritis on my way home tonight.

I will say it took me a while to recover from my last injury. But given that I was rollerblading being towed by a motorcycle at a racetrack at 3 in the morning and fell on the asphalt, some time spent with a sore knee seems reasonable.

I tried that with my kid too. I keep after the hardware. I run. I bike. I swim. So, we went to a local foot race - The Green Ridge Mile. I pumped out a respectable 6:40 and snagged second in my age group (44-49). He beat me by 2 minutes and 14 seconds. He was already rested when I got there. Maybe I should have gone with something he wasn't pretty good at... like who could clean the gutters faster so even a humiliating defeat at the hands of my own child would still be a win.

Just what I came here to say. Actually, I'd rather be 40 than 25. I was in still pretty good shape physically at 40, and emotionally, I was in a much better place.

At 56, if I could just stay awake and stop aching...

Well, what has him talking smack is that he beat me (finally) in a 5k a few months ago. I'm a weightlifter and only do a moderate amount of cardio. The race is somewhat hilly...it's about 1 mile of downhill, then 1 mile flat, then of course 1 mile back up hill. No super steep hills, but 1 mile of continuous uphill running is a challenge for anyone. He was talking crap for weeks about beating me. He was hell bent on it. I teased him but just ran my own race. He bolted ahead of me and I was sure he'd pass out on the hill. Nope. Though he did push super hard. He was out of gas and I was reeling him in fast at the end. He beat me by 6 seconds, and that was only because he saw me coming and broke into a sprint.

Such childish shenanigans for someone in their 40s. You should be ashamed of yourself...

That's pretty darn impressive.

One thing I think really helps a lot of guys is staying light and active. I know plenty of slim inactive guys who complain about their health, but they can turn it around much more quickly than the heavier guys, even heavier active guys.

I've only recently started really starting to care about what I eat. I still have problems with sugars, I don't drink enough water, and I tend to make all my clean vegetables like salads, grilled veggies and what not into terrible carriers of butter, cream, salt and cheese. In the end, I hope by the time I'm 40 (8 years away) that I'll have mastered clean eating with limited carbs and red meat, and maybe, just maybe that'll slim me down without having to work too hard at it.

When I graduated highschool I was 190 after several years of running track. I've gained 40lbs since then. I don't expect to run like I used to, but I also hope to stop eating like a kid, too.

Yeah, 40 was still pretty solid. 45 and 46 have started to make me feel a bit less like I could still do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. The realization dawned that I was doing certain physical acts for the last time (like last year I was washing the Suburban and jumped from the roof down to the driveway, it didn't feel great and I decided that was my last big leap before a knee folded the wrong way). For a former paratrooper it's a bit depressing to be reminded that the march of time waits for none.

When I started wishing the dishwasher was counter level. At 54, bending down to do anything looks rather uninviting. Mowing my yard used to take an hour and a half roughly, now it's a 2 to 3 hour affair. Getting older sucks. And let's not even start talking about eye sight and reading.

I realized I wasn't 25 anymore about 1.5 years ago when I turned 26.

Now, if we're talking about the moment we felt old--well, physically it still hasn't come. Mentally it was pretty soon after I started a "real job".
