Yesterday I did something I've never done before.
I voted early.
I decided I had had enough, heard enough, and was too tired to take any more beatings. I realized that the truth was I was no longer undecided, that there was nothing that could be said that would change my mind.
So I did it.
It felt weird. Like I was cheating or something.
But when I left the polling place I realized I don't have to listen to anything anyone says at all about politics, not the ads, not the arguments, nothing.
And it feels good.
So, yeah I understand this may be patio bait. If so, feel free to delete it.
But I wanted to share. I highly recommend it.
Did you vote for Morgan Freeman?

Was he on the ballet? Dang, must have missed him.
Early voting ends for us next Thursday. I have been trying to go since it began about a week and a half ago. Every day I plan to go something comes up at work. I'm hoping I'll get a chance to before it ends because I know I won't be able to make it on election day. I'm scheduled to be out of town.
He did the voiceover for a candidates political ad. Using his voice in an ad is almost like cheating.
i vote early every election to avoid lines.
i'm going tomorrow. i wanted to go last week but worked too late every day.
I did too and was amazed at the turnout. They said they were having the highest turnout they'd ever had.
I had to wait in line.
Google "early voting" in whatever county you live in. They will give you multiple polling places to go to.
You definitely have to bring proof of who you are and that you are registered to vote since these are not your normal poling places.

The downside of living in a swing state is that literally every commercial break on the radio is 4 political ads back-to-back. Same ones every time. It's to the point where I'm getting all MST3K on the ads.
I'm moving to one of those states where they don't care.
Our early voting is having a HUGE turnout as well.
I attended a funeral Saturday.
Not much fanfare, she was well into her '90's, good, full life and only 36 hrs in the hospital, but...
It was discussed that she had already voted early.

By a stroke of coincidence, I have a dentist appt on election day, so getting to the poles will be easy.

You are in Florida. I am in GA.
No political ads here. Not a swing state.

Yep. Dead folks voting all over the place.
No offense. Sorry about your loss.
Around here we can just mail in our votes early. Makes life nice and easy.
I am kinda interested in figuring out more about whole UN officials that are suppose to be "monitoring" the election at just about state.
I thought you could only do that in Chicago
Tuesday, February 15, 2011Vote Early; Vote Often
Some say it was none other than The Boss, Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley (seen above in full battle regalia) who coined the “vote early and often” phrase. Others think it was another notorious Chicagoan, Al Capone, who came up with the slogan. Another Chicago mayor, William Hale Thompson, who held the office a couple decades before Daley the First, is also on the short list of people suspected of originating the phrase

Holy cow is this true. We might as well live on Mars for all the attention we get here.
In reply to SVreX:
You didn't say who you voted for, therefore there should be no cement mixers.
I also voted early. IMO, it's a good thing. Anything (other than making it mandatory) that gets more people to vote is a good thing.

I voted yesterday, too.
WRT ads and such, I'm going to share an interesting idea that I recently heard for dealing with political phone calls. Whether they are robocalls or a real live human, if the opposition calls, keep them on the line as long as you can. This reduces their ability to call other people, making the phone system less effective.
Not much attention in KS. I haven't voted, and don't think I will, as I don't particularly care for either candidate.

Oh, you mean the officials working for an organization of which the US is a founding member, that oversee elections all over the world often at the request of the US? The ones that George Bush specifically invited here to monitor our elections in 2004 and 2008? Yeah, big controversy.

Same here in MD, for the past two weeks, there's been some political flyer in my mailbox every stinkin' day, and I SWEAR someone keeps driving through and adding more candidate signs in folks' yards.
I wanna start treating them like the Upgrade signs in Horizon.
