A properly driven "chase" car actually initiates the lane changes. Kinda like a blocker defines the run game, not the running back.

Dead on target, with a good analogy as well. OTOH, if the one driving the truck has forgotten that, you're kinda screwed.

And of course, in a lot of places when you try to clear the lane for the truck, some idiot will move into that spot from your right. They say "nature abhors a vaccum"? Hell, traffic obliterates one.
