Woohoo nobody posted the ones I wanted to!
BMW V12 used in the McLaren F1:
Menard V8 used in the Caparo T1 (GM LSx-based IIRC):
...and one of my favorites, the TT V8 used in the McLaren MP4-12C:
Had to add my own. '88 Fiero Formula. One of the few times GM tried to make a motor look cool. The TPI series of V8's is nice too.

If they had taken all the money for gold plating and put it into more performance stuff...
there is always the ultimate Lancia Delta engine.
That's a 4 cylinder.. check out the position of the intake and exhaust mounted turbos

You may want to take a peek back at Page 1...

That thing makes over 2,000hp, I think they've made that boosted 4-rotor make lots of power. LOL
Ask and ye shall receive. Good read too.

Was that hp measured before or after the plating? What would it look like after only one run....Yeah, I know, it's a show/look-what-this-shop-can-do car--not that there's anything wrong with that. Publicity is publicity; all the better if it's free.

I'd love to see a cut-away or diagrams of the engine, esp the head.
Slyp_Dawg wrote: I'm surprised it took 6 pages to get a picture of an Offenhauser in this thread, they are truly gorgeous engines, and it is absolutely incredible what they could accomplish with what was effectively an evolution of a nineteen-teens design. 1K horsepower at nearly 50 pounds of boost on a basic architecture that appeared before WWI? that's a strong design
I agree that its a remarkable engine. In 1920, materials and engine design were in their infancy, so if you were to build a race engine, its bound to be sturdy and overbuilt. Hence the head/ block cast as one piece. One less spot for failure. Make the crank as sturdy as possible, and then as metallurgy develops over the next few decades, either remove material or boost the ever lovin crap out of it.
I can't figure out how that Lancia engine works. And it looks like that Ferrari V12 has a redundant ignition system.
IKA Torino GS "Gran Sport" (1972) made in Argentina. engine "Tornado Interceptor OHC 230 super power". 3.8 litres 3 weber 45 DCOE 215Hp @ 5.700rpm. 0-100 km/h 9 seconds, top speed 215 km/h
