How do you buy cars at these low prices ?
Put an add on Craigslist offering $200 more than the Carvana offer ?

My car they have no idea what it;s worth. 1 of 400 makes it rare lol. This is for the wife's car:
Could be worse. We bought it 2 years ago November for $5000. She's put 34k miles on it since.

So I press "continue" and then put in the VIN and now the offer drops to $7,181. What?!? Exactly the same information on the same day and time. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, Carvana.
I wonder if there's some accident report floating around on that VIN that caused it to drop? Or lack of dealership maintenance or something. I'll still never buy a car from them as I've heard too many horror stories.

The sweet spot was about a year ago. I got an offer on my Golf Sportwagen higher than I paid for it OTD (tax, tags, etc) 2 years before.

I'm wondering if what we think is highly desirable ( Manual transmissions, sport suspension) aren't to the average buyer.
I wouldn't trust them any more than I can throw a car. But it might be a factor.
A friend of mine got an absolutely bonkers offer from Carvana a couple months ago. I helped her with that and helped her get the car ready and I still can't believe what they paid for it. $18.5k for a 2014 Equinox. Yes it was low miles but damn that's a lot of money. It was enough that I looked into buying cars to sell to Carvana but nothing I could find was enough of a spread to make it worthwhile.

I've been looking at 500's again recently and been surprised at how much people want for them.
I would have thought $7k for a 10 year old car nobody wants, with lousy support, and a spotty reliability record would be pretty good.
