I recently did a Netflix burn through this series on Netflix. It's a bit contrived (ok, let's face it, REALLY contrived) and fake, but it made me think, a lot. Basically it puts people in a post apocalyptic setting and says... here ya go... good luck! they have to do their own food and water, electric, plumbing, transport, defense, the works. I found it interesting to say the least, for some of the innovation some of these dudes came up with. A wood gasifier hooked up to an old pressure washer motor powering two alternators hooked to a bank of car batteries and an inverter for juice? A custom built windmill out of a fence, a bicycle, and an airplane? There's some seriously neat things these dudes did. I did find myself mad during the second season (seriously dude, why did you A- make the worm straight and B- why DIDN'T you run it through the cistern to cool it....) but overall for faked reality, I found it pretty cool. They "put the third season on hold" when a cast member was killed during a fight apparently, but hey, they can't all win, right? Anyone else see it? Might be worth a watch if you can get past the reality BS and like the post apocalypse scenario.

I saw one episode once. They need fuel to run a tractor engine or something and cooked down some dead pigs for fuel to run the engine.

Yup. They found some nasty ass dead pigs in the back of a butcher truck and rendered down the fat. One of the most disgusting things I've ever seen, and I've worked on my brothers 300m.
