OK, I saw these nifty-but-overpriced Christmas tree ornaments at Summit:

I liked them, but decided to try doing it GRM style; i.e. better (more accurate) and cheaper, too. Solution? I bought a bunch of Hot Wheels for less than a buck a piece. After drilling a hole in the roof of each one, I screwed a little eye from the the hardware section at lowe's into it, then hung it from the tree.
I loved this solution....My tree has a nice mix of fun road cars (TVR, a Ferrari 430, Ford GT40, Mini Cooper, etc.) and a whole bunch of 1930s-1950s street rods and drag cars. There's even a Delorean.
The only problem is that my dog has decided, for some odd reason, she wants to chew on the 1934 ford. She's stolen it twice tonight....she ignores all the other cars, but the 1934 is starting to look very worse for the wear.
Just thought I'd share.

she just thinks itll look better as a rat rod...
I'd rather cover it in flat black than in urine. The rat rod idea works....the grill already has that gnawed-on look.
Ouch. For whatever reason, our dogs don't bother the tree. They do like sniffing the presents, though.
Our dog unwraps presents. Yes, really.
never had a dog eat my car.. had a dog eat the INTERIOR of one of my cars
In my little ceramic Christmas village, it appears that someone at the school drives a Lotus Europa, and those darn Duke boys are jumping a snow drift.
Oh, and there's a herd of brass camels just passing through.
Tom Hanks still has nightmares
Our dog would always eat tinsel.
