So lets say hypothetically you ended up with a freshly built Ferrari F129B laying around but for some reason your search for a cheap 355 to put it in came up dry. What do you put it in? The hypothetical person that's totally real by the way and I discussed a couple ideas but decided all of them were dumb.
The ideas we thought of:
-
S10
-
Fiero
-
Porsche 944
-
Porsche 928
-
Porsche 914
-
MG of some flavor
-
C3 Corvette
-
C4 Corvette
While typing this I realized my new favorite idea for a home for it is a Biturbo.
Fiero with a Ferrari body kit.
79 Chevett with box flairs.
I like the Stratos idea, but if I couldn't find a natural home, I think it'd be time to build something beautiful from scratch.
If I couldn't handle beautiful, I think I'd have to sell it off.
In reply to Ransom:
I understand it's been used as shop decoration for a couple years now while he's been looking for a 355. The guy has severe project ADD so scratch built probably isn't happening. He's the sort of guy that gets a beat Crown Vic as payment for fixing somebody's truck, decides turboing it would be fun, whips up a quick turbo kit, blows it up at the track testing it, swaps in another engine and then sells it. If I'm remembering right this happened over the course of like a month.

2nd gen MR2. An old Alfa or Fiat convertible. 240z
Or off the wall suggestion: A Mazdapseed6. But install longintudinally and only use the rear axle. Of course need a different transmission.
Subaru Forester (RWD only)
240sx (preferably an S14)
RX-7 / RX-8
I like the Porsce 944 idea.
The problem with pretty much anything non-exotic mid-engined is that it will be designed for a transverse mounted engine.
Of course, I'm gonna say 914. I've seen just about everything put into them.

I seem to recall that a bullet of Ferrari pedigree ended up in '60s Nash station wagon(mid engined) awhile back and was entered in the Ridler.

+1 on a fiero kit. Second pick would be something bespoke like a locost.
Meh, unlike many on this board.......
I like cars that actually work. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/laugh-18.png)
Lancia Scorpion or Fiat X1/9

Haha. I forgot to hit submit on my post and saw you beat me.
The C4 Corvette isn't a bad idea. It not very interesting but it's a chassis that can make good use of the engine's power. C3s look great but they need heavy mods to stop or turn worth a damn.
Vipers aren't so expensive these days, especially with blown up engines, and they already have the drivetrain and engine bay room to suit...
Putting one in an FD would be a different V8 swap.
If you can spend a hefty chunk of change, maybe a Superlite Coupe, and you'll be able to run down modern Ferraris.
Another idea in the same price range is a TVR Sagaris. The stock engine is explodey anyway...
