That went right over your heads. Y'all must be a bunch of kids. "Where The Hell is Edmonton" was a really big saying in the late '70's. Ask your parents. I had a shirt that said that, sent to my by one of my aunts. People in Louisiana were really clue-less. Lots of dumb looks from them.

I got kinfolk all over that area, Edmonton, Red Deer, Wide Spot on the Road to a Rape Seed (OOOPS, I mean "Canola") Farm, etc.

I used to be in the WWTP business, and most plants worried about one event: the Superbowl Halftime Flush.

Data rules! See, science doesn't have to be boring!

I'd like to see similar data re: full-course yellows in motor racing coverage..

I understand that many, many Air Canada flights were delayed around North America because passengers weren't boarding the flights -- but rather staying at the gates watching the game.

About 3 hours away, actually.

In the 80's, everyone knew where Edmonton was.

fixed.

Want to see something cool? Look up a map of the NHL. All the teams are in the US, or almost in the US. Then you have Edmonton, the outlier in the middle of nowhere. Admittedly, there is Calgary that is pretty far up there as well.

As a hockey fan, I don't see that as cool. Especially when you overlay a ticket sales map onto it :(

Winnipeg was pretty far out as well. Too bad the Jets moved.

But that's where hockey lives! In the cold, where the ground is frozen for half the year. Population densities are a bit lower for some reason. I firmly believe that a city should not be allowed to have an NHL team unless it's possible for the local kids to play outside on natural ice. Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, Boston, Chicago - even Denver, no problem. Phoenix? Uhh, no. Send them back to Winnipeg!
