Oh yeah, and the high capacity LiIon batteries are awesome. I got a pair of the Ryobi 4ah batteries on special a while back and they gave my tools a new lease on life. I keep seeing good deals on the Milwaukee M18 fuel tools and they tempt me, but Ryobi really just keeps working fine for my home grade stuff.

It honestly might just be your browser. I have never had a problem with their website tbh.

Sounds like a browser issue to me too. Try clearing your cache and closing/reopening the browser. Alternatively try a different browser.

Also, my HD sells Snickers. I am sure it is not a coincidence. cheeky

This is in regards to one of the special deals (buy these batteries for $99 get a power tool up to $89 free) they have going on. Notice that it's the only one without a 'add to cart' option.  https://www.homedepot.com/b/Tools/Special-Values/N-5yc1vZc1xyZ6

It looks like they're probably out of stock for current online order shipping and due to demand aren't willing to commit to quantities in stores either.  Looks like you need to talk to a human being.  Call the corporate  number to see what they can do for the online order ("Need Help? Please call us at: 1-800-HOME-DEPOT (1-800-466-3337)") or your local store to see what they can do in person.

Part B sounds like Sears, JC Penny, Cabela's, etc

Partly true in respect to HD.  As a department head in a $52,000,000 a year store where our dept did $28,000,000 of the business I ordered a lot of the product but corp would shove a bunch of crap down my throat.  At the time we were selling a ton of John Deere mowers but to get them we had to take two tons of Murray.  Exaggeration there but only slightly.  I rarely go to HD web site.  I call them and let explain to me why they do not have ANYONE working a dept today ( day of your choice).  I have hat kind of time.  We had employees when I was there, lots of them.  When Bernie and Arthur left the stores went to pot.

But this isn't really on topic.  You may now return to the discussion at hand.

Yeah, that's why I hate the "please call your local store to check stock" line. I've done that before at my local store. Call, ask question 3 times, get transferred 4 times, each time with a 5 minute or more wait as the poor guy working the department by himself has to free himself of all in-store customers (who are basically lined up in a weird amorphous group around him) and answer the phone and talk to a guy who is calling the wrong department.

Eventually someone will just lie to me or tell me to 'come into the store'. But can you blame them? in-store customers should be higher priority.

But I think my point is that a good website can sell stuff without needing its employees to intervene. If amazon had to answer a phone call for every order a customer placed with them they would not be where they are today.

Question for everyone. Who here can go on HDs website and buy the Ryobi battery powered snowblower? (RY40840)

I want one, and last winter HD couldn't keep them in stock so I am willing to plunk down before winter to get in line. Ideally, I could pay now and pick up in store as soon as the store orders it and receives it (if it is a few weeks or even months I'm not worried).

Can't buy because it is not in stock in my local store (or any store within 100 miles of my zip). The 'schedule delivery for $35' option is available, but on the next screen it says I cannot get it because it is not in stock at my local store or any store within 100 miles. Finally, if I really scroll down, I can add it to my cart before again being told I cannot buy it because it is not in stock...

I get that my local store doesn't have it. But I am still willing to buy one. How do I get in line?

You  can go to the Customer Service counter, show them what you want and they will order it for you.

My suggestion is move on to Milwaukee M18 Fuel and never look back.  That stuff is worth the extra money even as a homeowner.  I used to be all DeWalt XRP, unloaded it a year ago for M18 Fuel, its night and day difference.

You can also get M18 Fuel anywhere and are not locked in to any one vendor.

Since I only want to shop Lowes/Home Derpot/Menards for something I need right now, the biggest struggle I have is sorting by "show in stock at location xxx only" and not getting 100x oddball results.  Walmart and Sears web pages are similar.  Walmart has listings for a ton of stuff they don't stock.  Who wants to mail order something to Walmart unless the item is dirty dirty cheap compared to another retailer.  I will just go to Amazon or Ebay if I don't need it this second.

There is a Home Depot 3 minutes from my house.

I drive 20 minutes to go to Lowe's.

That item has a note on the product page:

This product isn't currently sold in stores

I think you're going to have to speak to the customer service desk on that one.

Well, to give everyone the update here, I did have to get some home improvement project stuff this weekend and since menards and home depot basically share a parking lot I thought I'd see if they have (or can get) my Ryobi stuff.

I was told that the battery special is no longer going on (probably true, haven't gone back to the website to verify), but that that specific store never got shipped ANY of those batteries and tons of people were asking about them. They suggested - wait for it - that I go online to home depot's website to order them and then I can have them shipped right to my house...

I can't make this stuff up.
