- Franks Red Hot
- Crystal
- Siracha
- Valentina
...everything else.
Siracha should be below everything else. Texas Pete #3 because of how it is on biscuits. Cholula and pick-a-pepper are worthy of being ranked
Cholula Chipotle is my favorite.
Frank's is the Budwiser of hot sauce. Take that as you will.
Siracha is unique in it's thicker texture and works well on so much.

You shut your filthy pie-hole.
I like Franks so much my wife found a recipe to make it at home. We grow our own garlic and spicy peppers. Imagine Frank's but...fresher. Yeah. It's good.
I buy the big bottle of Franks I like the taste so much, drown things in it. I experiment with others but I like to actually taste my food. Those crazy over-the-top sauces where your tongue goes numb with one bite, what's the point?
And Crystal was available on the ship in the Navy, so yeah it works too! (Then again sometimes I used every sauce available like a stew to give the pork chops any flavor.)
The house brand hot sauce from Aldi is pretty darn good too. I'm sure it's just a re-label of one of the big brands.
It's dependent on what you're putting the stuff on, you can't just rank them without context- if we did tire comparisons this way you'd end up with people on Hoosier A7s for ice racing! I'll put Sriracha all over a pizza but keep it the hell away from my burrito.
Frank's makes the Ketchup-style (Not a ketchup base, but ketchup consistency) that was excellent. It had great flavor and it actually stayed on a sandwich, instead of running off the sides
I like Valentina (the hot version in the black bottle) for anything southwestern. Anything Asian or American gets Sriracha.
Trader Joe's Habanero sauce for whenever I feel like burning my face off
Pilotbraden and I have been making our own siracha for a couple of years. You can vary the heat depending on the peppers. the version made with Trinadad scorpions and Carolina reapers is very hot, but has great flavor.

Try this:
Melt butter. Mix melted butter 50-50 with Franks. Place chicken and fresh, sliced pineapple in this mixture, cover, and put in oven until the chicken is cooked.
Watch it disappear.
Cholula is my go to. Not a big fan of Frank's generally, but swmbo makes a mean Buffalo chicken dip with it so I'll give a pass for that. And I know this is sacrilege to many, but I just don't like Sriracha all that much. I've had some great lesser known brands as well, but can't seem to remember any names, and even tried making my own hot sauce last year...not a great success, too much vinegar in the flavor.
I rather like Tapitillio(sp?) for a flavored heat.
After being terribly disappointed with the Nashville Hot Chicken from KFC, I decided to make my own hot sauce, and it's at the top of my list now. Also doubles as a thick chili base, which is nice.

And thank god for that. I love vinegar!
I choose Cholula myself, Tapatio is pretty good too. I have never had Crystal or Valentina. I do have a bottle of the Trader Joe's habanero, but it's really really hot.
BTW, combining Woody's thread from yesterday... Cholula is really good on eggs.
I thought Franks = 50% tabasco + 50% butter
Or is that buffalo sauce?
I pretty much like it all. But Tamazula is usually less than a buck in my local store so that is what I normally go with. my BIL liked it so much when he was over one time I bought him like $5 worth for christmas. Boom done.

Yeah, wing sauce is 50-50 Franks and Butter. I grew up in WNY so I was raised on that stuff. Five awful Superbowls notable only for the amazing food served at the parties.
Franks is basically vinegar, hot peppers, and garlic. The garlic really makes it for me, that and the predominance of the pepper over the vinegar. I like vinegar, but I prefer a pepper-biased ratio in my hot sauce. And the peppers aren't stupidly hot, just great flavor.
I was introduced to Crystal at one of those Peruvian chicken joints that seem to be popping up around here. Crystal on greens is unbelievably good.
My favorite hot sauces are these two. It's unfair to the rest of you, because they come from a local burrito place called No Problemo in New Bedford, MA. The "Green Sauce" is Serrano Lime, and the "Red Sauce" is Cayenne Garlic. I've had a ton of different hot sauces, and nothing comes close to these two. That said, I also enjoy Sriracha as well, but that's a distant third to these two.
