I'm curious and you guys are my car friends, not my nerd friends so it seemed a good place to ask.
Who here has seen The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon but HAS NOT seen or heard of Critical Role?
I love the show, but I'm a thousand hours into the backstory. I've seen it and I love it, but it's an old familiar story to me. I know how it ends.
I'm curious to see if it's interesting to the average shmoe who saw it while browsing and thought yeah, why not?If you watched the show, but aren't a Critter, let me know what you thought. And if you are a Critter, Bidet.
I watched all 3 of the episodes so far and found it entertaining. I have zero clue about where it came from or any history in that world.
I watched all the first season of Critical Role but haven't had a chance to watch the legend of Vox Machina. I plan on it soon.
Honestly I haven't finished the second season or started the third of Critical Role cause I just can't keep up with watching a 4 hour episode each week.
I had heard of Critical Role before, but to date I haven't seen either Critical Role or the Legend of Vox Machina. I DID watch the intro video on the Critical Role page on Youtube explaining the world, however, and I did see the trailer.
Given the preview of Vox, how NSFW does it get? Is it just language and violence or does it have... adult content? For me, at least, that would be a dealbreaker.
Never heard of either until I saw an ad on Amazon. So, Japanese?
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
No based on a DnD game played on Youtube by a group of voice actors.
Heard of critical role, never taken the plunge. I'd say I'm at about a 7/10 for having a good time. Wife is a nerd too, but not a fan of the language/ content. She does giggle at some of it though.

It gets pretty adult. I've never watched Critical Role, and I watched the first two episodes of Vox Machina with my friends. I don't know, the humor just didn't really click with me. It felt too over the top, like they were just going for shock value a lot of the times.
I have never watched critical role and don't remember hearing about it either but I am enjoying The Legend of Vox Machina.

I know of critical role, but thats about all of it i know. I've been interested in the show but haven't partaken yet
The full (abridged) story is as follows:
Two dudes had a podcast called all work, no play where every month they tried something new. One month they decided to try D&D. Being voice actors they had a lot of voice actor friends. They invited a handful to play and had a great time. It became a regular thing.
After a year of running the game privately they were approached by geek & sundry, a nerdy youtube channel about live streaming their games. They were skeptical but gave it a shot and it was a hit. Being cartoon and video game voice artists they always dreamed of making their own cartoon and shopped the idea around, getting door slammed in their face everywhere. They launched a kickstarter asking for $750k to make a 25 minute animated special and it was fully funded in minutes, going on to be the most funded film kickstarter of all time. The project swelled to a full season, and then got picked up by amazon who were suddenly interested in the project they previously laughed at.
Now we're at now now.
