I know I'm late to the party on this one, but go read it. Now. Dude gets left for dead on a Mars mission and has to $2014 Challenge his way to either survive or starve until the next mission arrives. It's like the nerdiest, most jargon-filled fanfic episode of MacGyver ever. The audio version is particularly fabulous.

I've read it and recommended it here a couple of times. Even if it's not absolutely scientifically accurate, it's probably one of the best science fiction books I've every read. Can't wait for the movie but hope they don't screw it up.

So I'm pretty much berkeleyed.
Sounds a bit like Gravity, except, you know, with a somewhat plausible story.
... annnnd I just heard back from him about my invitation to do the podcast. He's in.
Anyone got any questions?
Yes, is this available in book form?

Finished reading the book this morning. Not great literature by any means, but very entertaining. Kind of what I picture being at the GR Challenge for a full year with survival being the goal rather than a trophy.
I love SF that is based on plausible technology and this fits the bill to a T. If anyone has any other suggestions, please post them. I am one of the original Heinlein fans and hold all others to his standards.
