I nominate one of my vendors.
My site contractor runs his business part time. His full time job is as a cop. Keep that part in mind...
Over the course of the last 10 months on the project, first I noticed his corporate name changing on the truck graphics. He went through 4 different corporate names in a couple months.
Then one of his trucks got repossessed from my site. Repo man shows up, hooks up to the truck, and his moron crew decides it’s a good idea to surround the truck/ repo man with a little posse of all of the construction equipment they can find so he can’t leave. Bulldozers, rollers, excavators all surrounding the poor guy. Cops were called, eventually truck was hauled off.
Then we start getting lien threats by ALL of his vendors. We are $1.4 million into his contract, and apparently none of his vendors have been paid. He has fraudulently signed the releases for payment stating debts have been paid. We realize we will get to pay many of the vendors again, even though we’ve already paid him.
Then we find that he has more judgements against him than anyone else at the local municipal clerk’s office.
Pathological liar. Has no idea when he’s lying, even when it’s obvious to a 4 year old.
So why is this week special? What makes this a better week for him to qualify as moron of the week? Because this week I learned where the money we’ve been paying him is going. My little cop friend is buying a strip club.
You cant make this E36 M3 up.
In reply to SVreX :
So, if you guys get lawyers involved, and manage to convince a judge, do you guys get to own his strip club?
In reply to SVreX :
Is he buying this strip club in singles? One dance at a time?

In reply to Appleseed :
Rumor has it that he has been known to drop $2K in a single night at a strip club. And he apparently tells the girls that he has 2 bengal tigers as pets.
I guess it will be a good investment for him- should save him quite a bit of money in tips.
I was joking, but...damn!
In reply to SVreX :
Have you made a criminal complaint yet? Forging releases and misappropriating funds both likely fall on the criminal side of "bad business", at least around here. That really doesn't help you with the business problems he's created, but hopefully will affect his "primary occupation". No way someone that crooked in their business life should continue to be a cop. If he belongs to a local agency, take your complaint to the state police so it doesn't get buried.

Clearly criminal, but it's not in my best interest right now to file a complaint. My job right now is to keep badgering him and his staff to get done anything possible towards the completion of the contract. Anything he fails to complete, we will have to hire another contractor for (and pay a 2nd time).
Judging by the public record, his primary occupation hasn't been impacted by previous misdeeds.
It is certainly possible we will file criminal complaints at some point, but definitely not now.

Not that I'm surprised a TV show would exaggerate things.
I recall one time World's Scarriest Police Chases was announcing how someone was running from the cops in a "souped up Mustang GT". The footage clearly showed an Escort hatchback.

...I'm sure it was like, a Hot Rod Lincoln situation. "Got a Mustang GT and it's really souped up, that Escort body makes it look like a pup"
In reply to SVreX :
Why am I suddenly curios if you are working on a project in Florida?
In reply to SVreX :
Cop probably has a godfather somewhere in local government he thinks will protect him. Maybe will protect him. I grew up in a community like this. Its nuts what can be gotten away with if you have the proper local political connections. Good Luck. Hire a good lawyer.
Maybe you will luck out and he broke a federal law that would get the FBI involved in a local corruption case. That's how the cases usually got resolved in my old community because every local official was either crooked or else kept their mouth shut to avoid being culled from the herd.

I don’t have any need to prosecute, or win.
I just need to finish my project.

Lawyer ain't gonna mean E36 M3 to a guy like that. You need to hire somebody else.

Is it just me, or does the guy with the bee on his hat look like Nik Blackhurst from Bad Obsession Motorsports?

Today's nomination is the shiny happy person that caused me to nearly be late to work this morning. Not because he caused me to be late- but because he killed two people. https://www.clickorlando.com/traffic/motorcyclist-driver-killed-in-3-vehicle-crash-in-kissimmee
Dump truck drivers are NOTORIOUS around here for their driving. The State Patrol is regularly on these guys asses. I've very nearly been killed by one- A fully loaded sand mine dump ran a red light right in front of me. If I hadn't been watching his headlights intently and noticed he WAS NOT slowing down- and convinced SWMBO to wait, I'd be mush. The people today were not so lucky. Guy barrels down the road, jumps the median into oncoming traffic, and pastes a 48 year old man on his motorcycle and a 19 year old girl in a CRV. The store owner came up on the accident on his way from the airport as it was happening. He said he could even tell what the car was at first, because it was UNDER the dump truck. Original reports from the scene said both of the deaths were from the bike- aerial footage couldn't catch that there was a car involved. I don't know where the berkeley they're getting these guys, but I'm of the mind currently that the entire operation needs license suspension pending investigation into hiring and equipment practices- there's no way this dude should have been on the road.

Dump truck drivers get paid by the load, not the hour. That's why they barrel-ass everywhere they go.
I believe that strikes will not lead to anything.
how about explosive shampoo possibly totalling your Civic?

Or the guy in a "255 horsepower RX-7"... the guy was driving an FB.
(and he braked in a corner and spun off the road, predictably)

Aerosol cans should never be left in a car. A friend of mine bought a car that had a can of International Orange spray paint explode inside. The glass had been cleared, absolutely nothing else, and everything else was orange.

Someone by me ran from the cops just a day or two ago because he was wanted and came up to a police checkpoint, he thought he'd lose the cops in the oncoming highway lanes and caused a 4-car pileup.
Update: He got a relative slap on the wrist, a $762 fine and a 6-month suspended license (For reference, typical speeding fines are $400~$600, getting caught driving without insurance or registration is $2380, and getting caught at 160kph or more gets you a lifetime driving ban). The guy claims the chase started because the cruise control on the rented BMW was somehow stuck leading to unintended acceleration (LOL suuure) and even though he had enough money to rent a BMW, he couldn't pay the fine (although to be fair, not having the cash in the courtroom legally means you can't pay the fine here) so he got 70 days in jail instead.
