i just got back from watchingthe new muppet movie and i have to say overall kinda cheesy, but doing some of the flashbacks to past tv shows and the old movies where really cool. one sence where they show kermits office and all the old photos of people who where on the show or did thing with the mupputs was really cool.
very chessy for all the dance numbers, but the muppets where just to damn cool for them to not bearound for the past 10 years.
some of my faves....
ralfe the dog....
the swede chef.....
doc honeydo and beeker...
the old guys in the box that compalin about everything...
animal beating the drums......beat them, not eat them animal....
so who do you guys love from the shows with the mupputs for charaters.
I took my three year old to see it last week. It was her first time in a theater.
I thought that the whole story was pretty weak and it moved really slowly. I thought there were some good inside jokes and the dance numbers were funny. I think I was the only one in the whole place who recognized Dave Grohl as Animal in the Muppet cover band.
On a side note, it's hard to explain to a three year old why she has to wait through (no exaggeration) thirty five minutes of previews and other nonsense before the actual movie. We almost had to leave early.
I went with my 14 year old son, and my nine year old daughter. Two-thirds of us loved it
My daughter loved it because it is silly, and she is still young. I loved it for all the retro-throwbacks, and because it is silly. My son was mystified the whole time. Too young for the throwbacks, too old for the plot . . .

it's funny that Dave Grohl was Animal in a Muppet cover band- his drummer (Taylor Hawkins) has been compared to Animal in the past...

My wife saw his name in the credits and couldn't figure out where she missed him. I pointed out that he was "animal" for the cover band and had to google it when we got home because she didn't believe me.
It was a fun movie just for all the cameos. It wasn't high art, deep plot or anything of the sort. But I never expected it would be.
I wish they'd bring back the TV show.
So whats next... Fraggle Rock?

If I get me some big screen Doozers, I can die a happy man.
They should bring back the Muppet Show... just not in that 90's Disney format.

I thought it was alright. I took a female to see this and she enjoyed it. It's definitely better than any other movie that's out right now.
Muppets and Sesame were cool before PC-itis set in.
My wife and I went last weekend to see it and had a blast. We both grew up on the Muppet's and most things Jim Henson, so we thought it was great for what it was. Like everyone else said, it's not high art, it's not a suspenseful drama. It's a Muppet's movie.

But Herald and Kumar is out.
Love the muppets! I have inflicted them upon my children, and now they love them too!
Hard to believe it's been near forty years since the original show aired.
My favorite skits were the Swedish Chef and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew with Beeker in Muppet Labs.
"Tudee we gun to make de choklit mousse.
First, we need de moose. Heeere, moose moose moose!"
Gilda Radner was great (as she generally was). Favorite moment off the top of my head (chocolate moose excepted) was John Cleese vehemently refusing to sing, and a crowd of muppets turning his protestations into a rendition of "To Dream The Impossible Dream"...
My wife and I took our 10 yo son and nephews. Thought it was fun. Not enough Pepe the shrimp or Rizzo the rat IMHO.

Grrr...my typo was quoted. She kind of wanted to see Breaking Dawn; I nixed that in a hurry.
I think my wife and I enjoyed it more than our 10 year old. We all laughed out loud when we saw Walter's "human" self. Plus, I was just about to complain that a certain song wasn't in the movie when it started in the credits. (Trying not to ruin it for those who haven't seen it)
All it made me want to do is get all the Muppet Show series and start watching them. They were always funnier.
I, too, wish they'd return with a weekly show. It would rock almost anything on TV. Something that both the kids AND the adults could enjoy.

the weekely show would rock again and getting new stars would be fun to watch....imagine getting the stig to show up with the mupputs....or the top gear guys...that would be welll...just really amuing i think

The way that they were promoting the movie on the Disney Channel made me suspect that maybe a new TV show is in the works.
We saw it over the Turkey Holiday. My wife and her best friend form THIRD GRADE were acting like third graders through out the film giggling an laughing. My wife doesn't laugh often ('cept at my expense). I liked it. Me thinks our memories tend to make the past grander than it was. Just gonna have to pull out the Muppet Show DVD collection and rewatch em to be sure. Hrmm de hrm de hur hur. Bork, bork, bork!
You can rent tv series from netflix. We did a while ago. One of my favorite tv shows.

actually, i think that show has so many hidden adult references that it's probably better when seen thru adult eyes..
Wish they'd do something more adult again like "The Dark Crystal." That was a good movie.
Proof of substance abuse in the Henson studios:

You try to come up with something like that cold stone sober.
Shawn
I think gonzo, kermit, the swedish chef, and the old men were always my favorite.
if they didnt end the movie with the old men complaining, you should have yelled out (during credits) "that was terrible! horrible! worst thing I've ever seen! it was pretty bad! well it was allright. not bad at all! great movie! bravo!bravo!"
