I haven't read The Onion for probably years. I do enjoy The Babylon Bee though. Good satire is a rare talent.

Looks like the sale fell through sadly:

The Onion's statement:

It's infuriating how Jones can continue to skirt around his sentence. I hope the Onion can find a way to make the deal work.
In reply to GameboyRMH :
Still, [Judge] Lopez said he did not want another auction and left it up to the trustee who oversaw the auction to determine the next steps.
This seems to be what will determine the next step, and leaves me rather hopeful. He was the one who agreed to The Onion's plan initially. The surviving families also liked the plan.
This is far from over.
Yeah, the judge paused the sale because of incomplete transparency. Onion didn't really do anything wrong, but since Infowars is in bankruptcy, all bids need to be transparent, and I guess that the final purchase price wasn't disclosed until after the handshake.
The sale might still happen, maybe at a higher price, maybe after another ruling.
The judge got it wrong, sealed bid is a perfectly ethical way to dispose of that particular asset. IMO
In reply to TRoglodyte :
Maybe. Probably. But it's something that can be argued over.
Sounds like the judge doesn't want to go through the headache of listening to all those arguments, and is just jumping to, "Whatever the trustee feels is best."
...which may well just be what they agreed on with the Onion originally.
