A new co-worker of mine is not only incredibly annoying but also an Apple computer fan. He regularly touts the virtue of all things Apple.
He became aware of my interest in Motorsports and had to make it known to me that Apple sponsored one and only one racecar.
I told him that I was pretty sure they sponsored other cars. He insisted I was wrong, and kind of talked down to me as he brought up websites proclaiming that the 935 was the only car Apple ever sponsored.
How dare my lifelong interest in Motorsports, contradict the only thing he (as an Apple expert) knows about Motorsports....
He will probably go ballistic if I show him this.

Also for those who might say that the Players GM series wasn't a professional series so it doesn't count.
It was.
There was major prize money on the line at those races. And a huge payout for points at the end of the season.

I suspect there were a number of others.

I wonder how that came about, in the early '90s they were losing buckets of money. Contrast to when they sponsored the Porsche in '80 they were drowning in money from the Apple II.
In reply to j_tso :
Could have been a decision by Apple Canada, or a large dealer that used the Apple name and trademarks.
As an Apple sponsored car, I assume that Firebird was twice as expensive as all the others, impossible to repair without destroying and programmed to get slower every time you use it.

In reply to DaewooOfDeath :
Without checking results I can say that Apple car was not very successful because it’s a Firebird. The Camaros enjoyed far more success which seemed odd with cars that should be close.
In reply to Rons :
I always wondered that myself. As the series went on, the Firebird seemed to be less and less popular with teams.
The Firebird, at least to my untrained eye, looked to be more aerodynamic than the Camaro.
Today when people are seeking out cars that ran in this series you rarely hear of anyone looking for the Firebird, or even being aware that it was eligible for the series.
In reply to drsmooth :
I’ll agree about.the aerodynamic conundrum I never understood it. There was a green Firebird floating around a few years ago that finally sold a few years ago, it had stayed as a racer fitting where it could.
And a gratuitous video of Trevor Seibert - Cleveland Indy Lights 1995 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GgaqPbNua1c

Damn I remember that one!! What a way to scrub off speed!!!
