Part plum, party something else. Whatever, yummy--possibly yummier than apples and popcorn.

Discuss.

People, be warned: Do not accept anything but the Genuine Apple Thread: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/apples/4556/page1/

All others are mere imitations.

("Pluot"? Really, David...)

The pluots (plum and apricot mix) I've tried have been dry and tasteless.

I thought pluots were plums and cumquats.

"Cumquat", the dirtiest sounding fruit.

We had four varieties mid-summer; the one that was best was the purple skin with the red flesh. The others were pretty meh. Plum and apricot confirmed. Also called dinosaur eggs.

I find them remarkably inconsistent. The first time I had one it was amazing, sweet, a perfect combination of the best qualities of each fruit. The next time I bought some they had thick, bitter skins, and a weird grainy texture. I wonder if there are different strains being marketed under this name, or a sudden increase in popularity has led to a lowering of growing standards. In any case, if you tried them and didn't like them, they might be worth another try from a different source.

It's an Aye Aye: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aye-aye Small cute-from-a-distance primate with sharp teeth and a long middle finger. I think I'll ask one to play me when they make GRM into a Major Motion Picture.
