There is a lot more for example the EZ way to performance is get the whole rear end assembly from a 90 or newer sedan or XJS.
You get outboard brakes which while a step down from inboard won't cook the seals under racing conditions. You also get 3:54 rear ratio instead of 2:88
Much better acceleration and if you get it out of a XJS you most likely will get positraction. Plus a single shock absorber per side instead of 2. ( and a single spring).
I'd still pull the parking brake off for racing. Better cooling and less weight.
Sorry I brought it up, now he's talking to himself.

No Stampie. I'm working and have to pause between posts to do that.
People, you included asked me for information. I'm doing my best to provide that. If you want more motor stuff? OK I'll give that. More chassis stuff? That too. How to adapt a Chevy transmission to a Jaguar? Fine. Budgets? Where to find deals?
Just give me some direction.

You want to know how to get 400+ horsepower out of a semi stock V12 ?
This was one of those awkward conversations we had a few years after local (HA!) rallycrosser Bob died. If you went to events east of the Mississippi you probably met Bob. He went to as many as he could schedule in a year.
Nobody really knows what happened to his old car (an increasingly worn black Bugeye). It always seemed kind of vulturey to go to his widow and ask after his stuff. And I don't think anyone would have felt comfortable driving it anyway.
I'm already older than a few of my male relatives got to be. I think about this sometimes, like I should write a catalog of stuff so that my executors know where things are, what their significance is, and where might be good places to list for sale ads or donate things.

No, I apparently already know
I always have buzzards knocking on my door trying to buy the Porsche, making me offers for the Miata, even wanting to buy the motorhome. House flippers call my cell phone three times a week. Everybody is waiting for me to kick the bucket so they can low ball the Mrs. on all my stuff. Here in Dallas they all know what I got and where it is. Even the old Gold Wing I had in the backyard got offers. They must have flown a drone over my house to find that one.

Ok the transmission thing got me interested. Let's do one post and one post only on adapting Chevy trans (manual also) to Jag V12..

The guy at the end of my block just went into a nursing home. In his garage buried under a ton of boxes was his old Porsche 356. Everybody on the street knew it was there....until it wasn't.
I think his son came in with an enclosed trailer and hauled it off in the middle of the night.

His son did the right thing lol

I have a funny feeling that one went to an auction somewhere.
I think you need more Porsche.
In reply to Snowdoggie :
I certainly do need more Porsche lol. I won't buy anything else "fun" unless it's a Porsche or classic Benz. At least thats the plan.

From late in 1977 on Jaguar's locating pins are the same as Chevy. Take a plate of the required thickness* and match the locating pins holes. Using thin cardboard match the holes in the Jaguar block drill and countersink for Allen head flared bolts. Then match the holes in the Chevy bell housing.
Fidanza sells an aluminum flywheel for Jaguar. Buy a pressure plate to match and a clutch disk that will fit the splines of the transmission buy a new pilot shaft bearing and ream it( do not drill ) to the pilot shaft size you're using.
you'll need a center release hydraulic clutch release. And attending hydraulic lines.
* measure from the bell housing to the tip of the pilot shaft to calculate how thick the spacer plate needs to be. Too many variations to know. Just measure. Add at least .125 and better if you add.250

Did that provide you with what you needed? I should mention you probably will need the output yoke from the transmission. Jaguar transmissions have a captive yoke and you unbolt the driveshaft. While Chevy yokes are a slider. You may repeat may be able to use the Jaguar yoke.
Frenchy, put all this technical information in a new thread you start. Call it "The Jaguar thread" or whatever. If not, these posts will disappear within days and no one will ever see them again because the search function sucks here.
Sorry about your bud that passed.

Some people seem to object when I add something about Jaguars. I'd be glad to post everything I know ( and I know very little about most normal Jaguar stuff A/C. Heater. Radio, power seats. Cruise control etc. I yank all that stuff and trash it because I'm only interested in racing.
Plus I'm a Luddite! Carbs and distributors ( yes I even have my own distributor machine)
In reply to NOT A TA :
There's already a thread for modding jag v12's. All this info there

Who cares? They'll either see the thread title and its author, roll their eyes and move on, join in for some good natured ribbing, contribute, or maybe learn something.
