I just visited the website of a magazine that I won't mention here, it's title has only 3 letters, and a test of the Cadillac Escalade(sp?) Hybrid was entitled a test of the worst car we have driven this year, and the tester said it was probably the worst vehicle he ever tested. In the U.K. this vehicle costs the equivalent of $110,000+- a few dollars and apparently their test car had THE worst build quality the magazine has tested since their test of a really poorly assembled Malaysian economy car.
They actually liked the CTS, tho.
We had similar thoughts when we tested the Tahoe Hybrid, which is a pretty similar product. Maybe not worst ever, but unimpressive.
Car review from 2008.
I'm guessing it wasn't EVO, they don't have much reason to get behind the wheel of an Escaladerone.
There's the problem. It's not a car. It's a truck.
Yes.
It.
Is.

I have been in an Escalade for exactly 9 minutes, and I came away impressed. Granted, it was a ride in a complimentary hotel shuttlIe, and I was in the second row. And it was the morning after a wedding, so I may have been a little hungover. Or still drunk.
Either way, I went into it expecting to loathe it, and I didn't feel too dirty when I got out.
And I have to say: it swallowed the driver, 7 passengers and their (checked and carry-on) luggage with aplomb and a decent degree of comfort.
Still, I can't exactly see one in my future.
(On a note related to pretentious luxo-trucks: I still really want to get a Lincoln Blackwood in a few years and just totally dog it as a work truck. Maybe start a roofing business just to have an excuse to cover it with tar splatter.)

SUV. Trucks are for people who work or need to tow something frequently, or they should be. SUVs are for soccer moms who can't drive and guys who want to feel outdoorsy. Or are compensating.
The new Escalade rides well, but a DTS from the same marque or a cushy Lexus rides way better. The new Escalade can tow, but not as much as a pickup truck, which would also cost less. The new Escalade can make you look like a rich douche, which no other vehicle does better
Also, the Hybrid part is complete false-branding. It's only cylinder-deactivation technology, there is nothing hybrid about it.

Actually, it's a real two-mode hybrid, which can drive for short distances at low speeds on only electric power. I had a neighbor that drove one, it was totally silent in the parking lot.

Its a truck with or without a bed (which they can come with). IMHO, a SUV is a car based/uni-body vehicle. YMMV.
Truck- I don't know how to define one, but I know it when I see one.
