CNN list of "20 Dumbest vehicles of all time"
As I figured, has a significant number of GRM approved cars. They just don't get it.

What did the Renault Dauphine ever do to the AOL Auto Staff? I bet they've never seen one in the flesh
Clearly dumbest vehicles from the board room decisions, nothing about the vehicles themselves.... Typical non-news story from CNN again.

Yeah, and even so a car could be dumb and cool at the same time. Like the Peel P50. A silly toy car but also cool.
BTW That Horsey Horseless would sell like mad to the hipster crowd
It's not very well proof-read either.
AOL article said: ...the number of people wanting to spend upwards of $100K for a loaded sedan with a VW bags on it is pretty much restricted to German government heads and Piech family and staff.
Who put their VW bags on my sedan!
The Ford Mustang II is number 6? I know it's not the greatest car, but come on! You were not going to get anything else past regulations, and it did inspire the Fox platform to improve it. Without the Mustang II, you don't have Mustangs.
Besides, I learned my stick-shifting skills on a manual 4-banger, and had fun doing it. So I'm not biased at all.

Pinto's here....

I have no idea what the Dauphine did to the AOL Auto Staff, but I shared 1 with my mother back in '63.
I've owned a lot of cars since then, most of them ranging from pretty neat to nearly awsome & even the bad ones having some redeeming features.
The only redeeming feature the Dauphine had was that some of the girls thought it was "cute". But even in the world of a constantly horny, hormone driven 16 year old country dumbass, that positive aspect was vastly outweighed by the negatives. It was the very worst car I've ever owned or had anything to do with.
I agree with a lot of them, but not all. The Aztec was a really good size, it was very practical, and had good space utilization. The idea was not dumb, it just suffered from horrible styling, for which it has already been bashed enough.

My dad had a Gordini when he was in England. If I remember correctly, it was his first car. He said he cut the springs, put a "Monza" exhaust (probably the equivalent of a fart can by today's standards), race steering wheel, flipped the wheels inside out. I guess he was "stance" before the stance kids are now
I've decided the only point of AOL car articles is to get people to visit their website - I think they purposely make up silly lists just to get car people worked up.
What a remarkably stupid and uninformed article. Just like most online "list" stories.
But I did find one great thing: Dr Seuses' car!
I want one! And if you google image search James Scripps Booth car you will find its not his only oddity.
I think they threw in the really old stuff so that they could have a "we know what we're talking about" defense when people point out that they don't know what the berkeley they're talking about.
And seriously, the H2 one read like some faggy hippies wet dream.

One would be immense fun, especially with that Zetec swap they keep talking about.
Oh Cadillac Cimmaron (sp? don't care). First job out of the Navy in 91 was a Caddy dealership and many of these overpriced Cavaliers graced the service department.
I had never heard of a Dauphine until I came across one in a junkyard. I resisted with all my might to not drag that thing out of there. Oddly, 1st thing that came to mind would be a rally car. Looked them up online to see what it was & I was sorely upset for never getting it out of there.
Whew! None of my cars made the list.
Usually my Daimler gets the "ugly" tag and becomes a top ten.
Usually by someone who has never driven one, or heard the engine in one.

So he was a stance hipster?

exactly. semi ugly yes, dumb hell no.
the more i see them the more i want one though.....
What, you're gonna put credence in the opinion of someone who'd lay down a sentence like this: "the "dumbest" cars to be foisted upon the pubic"?
There have been a few cars that have made an impression, ahem, there... and they certainly didn't have to be foisted upon me!
No disrespect meant to the younger guys here, but it sounds like it was written by a 20 something guy that once read something about something in a GQ once and now thinks he knows everything.
Those are nowhere near the dumbest. And you have to take the time they were built into consideration.
Just to state a couple of examples, how can you say that Ford was dumb in creating the Mustang II and the Pinto when they made millions off both cars. Same for the Vega and many of the others. In reality, the Pinto was a decent driver for it's time. The '70's in particular was a difficult time for manufacturers given the host of new regulations and the gas shortages all hitting at once. It's a wonder we got any good cars at all out that time period.
