The fun part for Mr Genius here? It's a toss up on Local, State OR Federal Charges. Thank God for him and everyone the bus wasn't loaded.
Tell you what, take it from me: you absolutely do NOT want a Forest Service or other federal LEO to give you a ticket. They ain't funnin'. A lot of the time it can get passed to local magistrates etc but man if the Feds get their hooks in you...
That's a pretty good trick totaling a school bus and sustaining only minor injuries. I hope they send mommy and daddy a bill for the damages.
I got a federal speeding ticket a year and a half ago in a national park. I paid the fine online. It has not showed up on my insurance as an incedent. And that's ok with me.
I got pulled over for 'drag racing' on Pikes Peak, once. No ticket. not condoning the actions of the person in the story
LOL, how does one drag on Pikes Peak?
Push both cars off the edge at the same time.

Stop at the picnic grounds to talk, side by side. Things just progressed from there. LOL. Oh, and the person I was drag racing? My ex-girlfriends mom. LOL. She was a cool lady.

Well, if you're my father, you keep a long length of chain the back of your jeep, and when you find an appropriate boulder you hook up to it and try to not have it smack into your back bumper as you "relocate" it.
He used to do this often, then he stopped drinking.
