When he started in the sport, many people were calling him the next Schumacher. He was very quick as a rookie, but even with a World Championship, he's never lived up to the hype of his first season. That said, he is a very good driver, and while not the flashiest, he quietly works his way into a good finish. Keep in mind he blew Hamilton away during his last season at McLaren, which admittedly wasn't Lewis' best. Sure seems like he should be older than 34.
My wife and daughter think he's cute!
He's one of my favorite drivers and I think seriously under rated. I think a lot of people discount him as a champ as he spent so long in mediocre cars. Would Schumi or Vettel have won championships in a 2001 BEnatton or 2005 BAR or 08 Honda? No.
Over the course of his career he’s outscored his team mates nine of his 14 years including having LCH as a team mate. In the old points system he outscored his team mates by an average of 16 points per season, including the years he was behind. Under the new points he outscored his team mate by 9.75 points per season. Just looking at his time with LCH as a team mate he scored 672 points to LCH’s 657 and had 12 wins to LCH’s 13. How is that the record of a crappy driver not deserving of a WDC?

I am also a fan - mostly because his demeanor out of the car seems like a decent guy and also because I always have more respect for guys who can be super fast and at the same time easy on the hardware or tires. I know just from the w2w I've done that it is damn hard to conserve for the big picture when you are in a fight. He has always got more that his competitors out of fuel and tires. He will make a fantastic endurance race driver when he retires and decides to change his mind and win at Le Mans or Daytona.
Most drivers do marathons and triathlons, I had to unfollow Mark Webber on Twitter because I felt out of shape and winded just seeing what he did between races.
I've always cheered for Jenson, I was quite happy when he won with BrawnGP and finally got to have his moment in the sun. He drives smooth and quietly gets the most out of a mediocre car.
Well the guy is one unlucky driver seems to be great at being in the wrong team at the wrong time. Except for Brawn GP.
I lost some respect for the guy when he lost the car in Canada I think on the formation lap or under safety car when someone at the front got hard on the brakes he just dove off the track to avoid crashing the car in front of him.
According to F1 Metrics, Jensen ranks 20th (right behind Senna) of all-time drivers.

We have a cat named Jensen Button. My wife is a big fan. The cat's not too bright and is definitely not a world class triathlete. But it's fun to watch F1 races with him.
Lets be honest very few people have gotten along with Hami as a teammate. Even Lewis BFF Nico doesn't like him anymore. It seemed that JB was able to handle being his teammate in a pro manner.

Not to turn this into a Hami bashing thread but that guy is a douche. He exudes it in every interview I've heard. He reminds me of Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka. "Daddy, get me a squirrel! Now!". Age and experience have not seemed to lessen that.

OK, I'm going to have to read up on his methodology, but that list makes no sense to me. I'm on record as being a big Senna detractor, but putting the guy 19th?!?! Behind Nico Rosberg, James Hunt, John Watson, HH Fretzen!! All Drivers I 'like' more than him, but 'better' than him??? come off it?!?!?

Yeah, you need to go back and read the preface. The model basically takes the teams out of the equation, and shows how many points per race a driver would score if they were all in the same car.

The model has two major flaws that aren't listed:
By using one points system for everything it fails to account for race strategy that depended upon the points system actually in use for that race. You can't play retrospective "what if we changed the points system" games, because someone will fight harder to get from 11th to 10th if there's a point for 10th than they will if the points only go back to 6th.
It ranks a driver using only 3 consecutive years of his career (presumably the best ones), but it uses that ranking to rank other drivers for the entire length of that driver's career. This is a big reason why Nico is ranked so highly -- he beat Schumacher routinely at Mercedes, but I think it's fairly obvious that Schumacher at Mercedes was not driving even close to the level he was at Ferrari. I don't think it's accurate to judge the relative performances of Barichello and Rosberg by comparing how well they both did against Schumacher.
In the 2011 Canadian GP, Button was in last place on lap 40, but took the lead from Sebastian Vettel on the last lap and won the race. I don't care who you are, that's a pretty dang impressive feat.

We have a cat named Jensen Button. The other one is just Seb. Our Jenson is the smart athlete, though, lol.
I knew I liked you for a reason.
Seb is a good choice. Could be be Vettel, could be Loeb, could be Ogier.
No little four legged Jensen, but I do have a cat named Rubens Barrichello, Ruby for short. Now he beat the Stig...
