I'm heading down to Key West soon for my honeymoon and was wondering what does GRM suggest that I do while I'm there.
The itinerary is to fly into Miami on a Saturday, drive down to Key West and stay at Parrot Key for a week and then drive back to Miami to fly out. Airfare, rental car and hotel are all booked.
Now I'm just looking for things for me and the new wife to do. Ideas?

Best thing to do in Key West? Nothing at all.
If your asking what to do on your honeymoon then you might need "the talk" . Buahaha.
seriously tho. Rent a boat. Go swimming and fishing. Get silly drunk and eat good food. And pray for no hurricaines unless of course its the drink.

Seriously though, snorkeling down there is great, lots of place are good fun from shore, and the snorkeling trips are reasonably priced as well. If you look/ask around you can find some smaller charters with better prices, more personalized experiences and more flexible times.
I touched Christ of The Deep while I was down there, which was memorable.
Not me:
One thing I regret NOT doing while down there was taking the tour out to the Dry Tortugas. You should definitely do that if weather permits.
Also, order Key Lime Pie everything. Ice Cream. Shots. Pie. Cake. Pudding. Just get it all.
At Sloppy Joes bar catch Pete and Wayne for the hit song,"The rectum of Ella Fitzgerald."

Aside from what has been mentioned, we took a day cruise on a boat called the "danger", which included snorkeling and kayaking, and it was great. We got back in plenty of time that evening for a Duvall st bender, it was a good day.

pretty much what everyone said. if you like fishing, the dry tortugas is a religious experience! also, renting bikes to kick around the island on works really well. if you're actually in to biking, go find this salty bastard: http://mercurybicyclefit.com/ his name is dave. tell him josh sent you. alternatively, if you're into drinking, go find this salty bastard: http://mercurybicyclefit.com/ his name is dave. tell him josh sent you. he won't let you down either way

oh, the fort and hemingway house are must visits.
1) drink
2) have sex
3) go fishing
4) go swimming
Any combinations and repetitions of the 4 sound pretty damn awesome to me.

Also, check out Captain Tony's bar. This was the original Sloppy Joe's. My wife's bra is in there someplace. So much history there, not just mine.
The butterfly conservatory is pretty awesome.

Ther Key West Lime Shop takes slices of Key Lime Pie, puts them on a popsicle stick, coats them in chocolate, then freezes them. That is usually my first stop on the way to Captain Tony's.
Key West is not a Beach town, so snorkeling excursions are a must. Rent a bike or a scooter too, you won't need a car.
Food is pretty popular. I like Kelly's Caribbean Bar and Pepe's Cafe on Caroline.
Since you have a car, might want to go up to Big Pine Key and eat at the No Name Pub. It's a nice drive, you might get lucky and see some Key Deer on Big Pine, and Bahia Honda is a nice spot to swim and scare yourself with a look at what the road USED to look like.
Margie
Remember, Speed Kills Key Deer.
I would definatly go to the Tortugas and visit Fort Jefferson
Google "Bay bottom crawl." On Sugarloaf Key, there is a crazy little autocross site. It looks like it was meant to be a housing development that was halted after the road was built. Last time I went down that way, I had my Honda Ruckus in the back of my truck and I unloaded it to run a couple of laps around the "track." You have to use a trail passed a concrete barrier and cross a graffiti'd bridge to get to it. It was a cool little adventure!
If you google map "Sugarloaf Key" and go directly south from the airport, you can see the course. They do organize an autocross there every year. I will go sometime.
Thanks for the suggestions so far! We're definitely going to add some of them to our list.
Anybody ever do any "swim with the dolphins" things down there? It looks like there are several different places to choose from and we really want to try this.

This. There was a bar down there called Tree Bar, and they made the best Key Lime-Pina-Colada. Im not huge on frozen drinks, but to me, this thing was worth its weight in gold.

Check out Robbie's in Islamorada (south end) on your way down. It's become quite the tourist attraction but still cheap/quick fun to break up the trip.

Oh, and it's lobster season so go catch some.

When are you going? I just got back but I will be heading down another weekend in September and I'll have 2/3 boats at my disposal.

Pretty much. I'd throw "eat" somewhere in there.
Punchline to one of my new favorite jokes: "Well, she's got worms too, and you know how I love to fish!"
