I like the juxtaposition of the last two posts.

My question is - how do you know that?

My guess is that it's intentional.

Nope, totally random. I don't believe, but I don't ridicule and I don't provoke.

Hah!

The 'sleazy' balances out the 'wholesome', and all is well again.

Bounded by Canal Street, Esplanade Avenue, Rampart Street and the Mississippi River, the Quarter is especially alluring early in the morning when it has that just-scrubbed look, all the sidewalks having been hosed down to wash away the prior night's revelry and For more information for things to do in New Orleans you can visit FYIfly.com.

The beach is a great place to paddle a canoe.

I don't remember having a problem with the but the harder I think about it, the fuzzier it gets. New Orleans will do that to you

Rent a car or find a bus trip that is going to Oak Alley. Its a well-preserved old plantation estate that is now a museum.

Buzz up to Slidell and do a swamp tour.

Eat at The Breakfast Club in Chalmette

Downtown you'll find lots to do. Just start down at the water at the market and meander your way up toward Bourbon and you'll find lots of neat little artisan shops and bars/eateries. Stop in at Preservation Hall on Tuesdays and Thursays for some good music.

Don't neglect the Garden District. Take a walking tour of the cemetaries and save up your pennies (and take a jacket - required) and eat at Commander's Palace.

Caution to all, this is not a current conversation. A few posts up a spammer revived this thread "aka a canoe".
The original conversation is from Aug 2010 (over a year ago.)

Some are touristy, but it's New Orleans, so most things are. Here's what I like:

Lunch at Mother's. Its a tradition and the food is excellent. Missing Mother's is not an option.

Breakfast at Lucy's Retired Surfer Bar & Restaurant. The warehouse district is getting more popular these days.

Steak Dinner at Mister Bs or Dickie Brennan's or Delmonicos or ...who am I kidding? Anywhere! The Duck at NOLA (Emerill's place in the quarter). And of course, cajun and creole food just about anywhere.

Walking the Riverfront Mall. Some good food and typical mall stuff, but it's something to break up a day and get out of the heat and come home with a souvenir.

Some swamp tours pick up in the city and drive you out, so you won't have to rent a car to do a swamp tour.

Midnight to 2am at the Funky Pirate with Big Al Carson. Best blues in the quarter and its usually pretty crazy by then.

Hurricanes at Pat O's. Great for people watching too.

Catching a nice local act at Margaritaville.

D-Day museum. (worth a trip, really)

Frenchmen Street for music.

Take a cab uptown to Jacques-Imo's if you want awesome creole food. Meaning, the best in the city by far.
