I found his sense of humor pretty unique. There are little jokes worked into sentences that aren’t really the joke.

He missed his own point: it is a 1000 mile DOTTED line. If it were a SOLID line, no one could get through.
I've actually suggested annexing our way south to shorten the border. It dovetails nicely with my "combine useless states to keep the number at the magic 50" plan. Rhode Island, Delaware, and South Dakota you're all on the chopping block so we can let in Sonora, Chihuahua, and Coahuila.
