A long story short, we hired an ex-colleague of mine to remodel our bathroom while we were in NYC in April..........he was a complete fraud and walked off the job after taking a deposit for materials (I know, I know, live and learn) and only completing Demo and not even buying some of the stuff we gave him specific item numbers for.
We had the locks changed the next day and hired another contractor and finally had our bathroom finished at the beginning of this month (Fun stuff when you have a 1 bathroom house)
Now we see this pop up in the local paper yesterday. I mean, after we knew what happened, we could surmise the guy was not who I thought he was and is a REAL piece of E36 M3.

So I did a search on OSCN.net after seeing this......wow at his criminal record. I'm kind of shocked that State Farm even hired this guy to be a claim rep (where I knew him from). Indebtedness, foreclosures, DUIs, and now injuring a 17month old child?
Freaks me out knowing this is a guy I've known for years, had beers and dinner with and hired to work on our house.
Goes to show you never really know what people are capable of.

Having done a lot of construction work, I can understand. I had a partner from a really good family that turned out to be a thief and a heavy cocaine addict. Bad times.
There are a lot of shiny happy people out there.
That berkeleyer should rot in jail. What the hell can drive you to treat a kid like that? 17 months!
I've had the same problem with an a guy taking half of a deposit and running away, I then found out he did it to three different people in my neighborhood. The sad part is that the few things he did, he did a really good job. I am sure he would have been succesfull if he actually worked or manned a crew.

I had a young guy work for me for a couple of years, until I got tired of his random no-shows. I would have canned his ass the first time he didn't show, but he was an excellent mechanic, smart, hard working (when he was there) and basically a pretty nice kid. Sadly, he had been raised by wolves, and had some real problems with his personal life, and taking responsibility for his sperm.
Last time I saw him, he tried to sell me a stolen car for parts to buy meth. Truly sad. He coulda been a contender.

There was a guy I worked with who mentioned a court date once or twice. I figured it' was a traffic ticket or something. Then one day he said he didn't expect to be doing business with me for much longer, his sentencing date was coming up
Google powers....ACTIVATE! Turns out this total DB had something in the order of 1,000,000 pics and vids of child p0rn on his computer, some of the co-starred HIM! His exploits took him to Canada as well, so he's facing charges in two countries.
Good riddence! Glad he was never over my house or around my kids.
There's ways a contrarian here, so here goes. I'll be the only parent in the western world to admit that I've been very close to strangling my 17 mo old to death. He's ten now, but I have a better appreciation now for single moms/dads who deal with much more "real" stress than I do with small kids in the house.
Still no excuse. You buys the baby ticket and you takes the (crazy) ride.
I may not be a father, but I am the father figure to my 12yo niece. I could not imagine hurting anyone, especially one so young that it does not even know to defend itself.
There is a special place in hell for people like that

yeah, hopefully it's called "general population"
Trying so hard not to flounder my own thread.

My family keeps antagonizing me to send him some nice text messages or something.
If only I knew how to do it anonymously.

buy a throw away phone ....
I was doing a couple of sewer tie ins the other day for two houses on the same street. One guy I knew, the other guy tagged along to get a better price out of me since I was all ready there. The other guy seemed like a real nice guy. He was around all day chatting it up with me, the excavator, the inspector, etc. At the end of the day, I was talking to the guy I knew and said, "your buddy seems like a nice guy". He laughed and said you'd think he was, but he just got out of jail a couple of months ago. He served 5 years for molesting his niece, and that was his third conviction for molestation. You just never know unless you check.
I knowing several child molesters in the past that I didn't know about, they do all seem to share a common thread: every one of them seemed normal outside of what they did in their spare time. As far as I can guess, it was just some weird sexual thing they did. At some point, they decided that banging kiddies is what got them off. That's why they seem normal otherwise. How many of you guys do kinky things with your significant others? Their logic is that it's no different for them.
These people need rehab, but they don't need to be out in public while it happens. General population at the local prison seems to be the best option.

There is no hell. You have to drill their knee caps yourself if you want it done.

How the berk did this piece of E36 M3 make a bail?

If I were you, I would meet up with him for beer and the make sure a large group of buddies kicked the ever-living E36 M3 of him. Seriously. Not even remotely joking.

Precisely.
Little ones can be frustrating, I know. But that's when you leave the room, take a deep breath or two, and go back in.
Not beat the E36 M3 out of them.
Sorry, no sympathy here.

I do not feel an irresistible urge to tie up every girl I see. Nor do I feel an urge to grope every pretty girl I see..
It is not the sex part that drives molesters, it is the power. Just like Rape is not a crime of passion. In that respect that are -much- different from those that practice kinky games in the bedroom with our significant others
Had a management co worker who was arrested on the job, the next thing we know he's on the sex offender registry. The pic was taken the same day of his arrest and he's wearing a polo shirt with the dealership name embroidered on the left breast. Considering what asswipes the ownership of that place are, it serves them right.
