All last week I kept hearing about how good the weather was going to be this weekend. I was looking foward to finally being able to spend two days working on the BMW fixing rust and geting it ready for paint. I had planned on getting up early Sat and spending all day working on the car. I also needed to wash and wax the wifes car and mow the grass trim the hedges and a couple other things around the house needed addressed.
Well last tuesday I started having some muscle pains starting in my legs. The pain began to get more accute and spread throughout the rest of my body over the next couple days. The best way I can describe it is like I worked out extremely intensly for way to long and my muscles are tired and burning. I over slept by an hour on Fri morning. By the time I made it to work I was having a hard time gripping a pen. Around lunch time I had to use the restroom and couldn't get my pants zipped or buttoned. I had lost enough strength that I couldn't turn the key in the ignition without help. I decided I should go to the E.R.
So thats where I have been scince leaving work on Fri. I just got home a little while ago. The doctors said that I had elivated muscle enzymes and teh byproduct of my muscles breaking down was toxic for my kidneys. They pumped fluids through me until my levels where down enough that they felt I would be safe at home.
The worst part is they have no Idea what has caused this. Ruled out my meds, Blood clots and my theories of either A. a bug bite or B. I got into some rusty metal under a house last week and got the lock jaw. The last thing the doc said was that it could be viral? It sucks not knowing.
The pain has subdued but I still don't have the strenght to button my pants. They want me to stay off work until Thur. I go for a follow u with my doc on Wed.
At this rate I don't think I'll ever get the stupid BMW painted. I'm hoping I can get enough streingth back that I can get some of my list knocked out before I go back to work. The big wigs are flying in on Tue. and work might be going in a differant direction. So that is kind of weighing on my mind as well.
Anyway thats my story, I hope everyone else had a much nicer, more productive/relaxing weekend than I had.
Wow that is really rough! Take it easy, the BMW will wait! I'd lean towards tetanus myself, but it's hard to get a diagnosis on these kinds of things. Glad you got medical attention in time - things sound like they got pretty bad.
hang in there!
Holy crap !
Take care of yourself first, you need to be there in order to get the BMW painted.
Hope you are over the worst of it. If you're lucky, you be 100% by Monday and can do what you want till Thursday. Think of it as a mini vacation.
Just don't over do it.
Hate to hear that you're having problems and hope you recover quickly.
Man, never heard of that condition before. Hope you get better!
if that is tetanus.. I think I need a shot before I come down with it...
I can only wish you luck in getting over it safely
Kidneys are pretty vital. Stay safe. The car will be there later.
best wishes for a speedy recovery
and thanks for a kinda indirect reminder for us all to get our tetanus updated

Wow, that's really scary! Ditto what the others are saying – take care of yourself, the car will wait!
Just because it can't be repeated enough times: Take care of yourself. Cars have the great attribute that they decay much more slowly than people if you need to defer care. You first, car somewhere after that...
Hope they can sort out what's going on and get you fixed up quickly.
The car can't fix itself, so get yourself better!
Yikes man, that's some scary E36M3. Get better soon. Don't stress about work or the car, they'll work themselves out if you get well.
Surely there are a couple of memberss in the Knoxville area that could give you a hand prepping and painting the car, if that'd help make the weekend less of a write-off. I'd offer myself, but that's almost 800 miles for me. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/whatthe-18.png)
Thanks all for the well wishes.
I hope to be back to normal soon.
I like how you waited until you couldn't turn a key before seeking medical attention ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/googly-18.png)

It really just felt like normal muscle pain until Fri. I called My Doctor around noon when I couldn't get my pants zipped. My wife kept telling me to go to the er. Problem is I had a whole crew of guy's out on a job. When we finished the job I went. I still didn't really feel badly. ONly like I just got done with a triatholon.
