True story: my mom sold all me and my brother's gen 1 transformers (including metal optimus prime, a couple soundwaves, probably 30-40 in total) for $1 in a yard sale.

I used to have a chrome Hutch Trick Star.  I bought the frame in the late 90s for $175 from an actual bike shop.  I lost the bike (along with pretty much all of my worldly possessions except for a bag of clothing) when the house I was living in got repo'd by the bank after the owner decided that paying the mortgage was too much work.

Last year or so, I did an eBay search to see how much one of those was worth nowadays, and had a very good long... well it wasn't a cry, but it felt like it should have been one.

New employer is closer to my age, and he used to be into BMX too.  When we were hanging out at the shop after work one day, the subject came up, and I brought up eBay on my tablet.  Judging by his reaction, he felt the same way I did.

Years ago my grandpa used all of his oldest son's comic books to line a sewer ditch.

Included in the pile was a bunch of early marvel and d.c stuff. 

Imagine how much money was in there
