That's funny, my friend has a pair of Wright Cyclones from M-4 Shermans sitting in the back of his hangar. I think that there has got to be a GRM-worthy project there.

Okay, this is why I love/hate this place. I posted up something about old Aurora HO scale AFX slot cars the other night. I just realized that the armatures in those cars were laid horizontal. Now, I'm wondering about how you could mount a Cyclone flat in the chassis, and use some big gears to transfer the power to the rear..

I'm over 50, I've worked in a bunch of different offices, often chock full of self proclaimed "Car Guys". Mostly, I keep my head down and out of the fray. It's just not worth it. I do find it incredibly amusing when the automotive "go-to" guy comes to me with a question.

Have fun being you!

I a-x and do track days ... that makes me one of the go to guys at the plant where I work... which is funny because there are some really competent mechanics that work here ... tickles me when some of the women ask me questions that they should really be asking those that actually know something

I just realized the one question that really bothers me is "..what should it cost to..?" The parts I buy are for cars 15yr or more old, and I do any labor I've got the tools for (that is, anything not requiring a hoist or welder) myself.

So, yes..I am the resident car guy, and no, I don't know what's a fair price to replace the power cupholders in your Infinitexcess BR459.

Are you sure about that? I think it's the other way around.... To the point of the OP, we were having the "what would you buy if you won the powerball" conversation at work the other day, and I mentioned the Lancia Delta Integrale HF Evo, and everyone looked at me like I was stupid. (BTW a 190E-2.3 16 is also on that list) Here, just as an encouragement!

That version of the 190 is my favorite. I was the proud owner and driver of one for 3 years,I would buy another one.

In reply to pilotbraden:

I'm an old BMW guy. When those cars ran against the E30 M3 in the GTC, we hated them. But secretly down inside, we all wanted one. I'd rock a 2.3 190.

Yup I had the same problem when I worked at a pharmaceutical lab several years ago. Some of these guys made $$$ and would also walk by me looking at the for sale places for viable cars to autocross with. I would get:

"Dude you should get that car, it's got that semi-automatic thing" "AWD cars always win no matter what" "That's a great car to drift" "Don't get a Honda they barely last 50,000 miles"

Even some of my family members (wife side), try to be all car know-it-alls and that drives me crazy. Sometimes I want to say "You couldn't even change your own oil until I taught you", or "You have to come over every week to borrow my tools to check your air pressures (then which you always loose one of my sockets and you replace it with a Kmart brand".
