We are in the process of buying a house. It's a triple lot, so that's cool. It has a 20X30 workshop, so that's cool.
I get the survey today and I'm amazed that the previous owner, sometime between 2001 and today was able to hire Ray Charles and Helen Keller to eract a privacy fence. I mean, LOOK AT THIS! Not ONE segment of the fence is parallel to the property line.
Are there some natural barriers in the way? Such as, was the fence line altered to accommodate a large tree?
Is there a gate that allows for driving to the 20x30 garage?
On the right side of the house, fencing 6 ft tall forward of the front door is not common around here. Typically, if allowed at all, front yard fencing is limited to a max of 4ft tall.
Am I reading correctly that the fence is not such that it could keep a dog inside the fence? Seems to be open on most all of the right side of the picture.
The listing is a complex one, hence the fence being open on the right side. Basically we purchased a property that consists of lots 10, 33, and 34 below. The house on lot 32 could have been purchased as part of the deal, as could lot 11. Currently, all 5 lots are fenced off with 6' PVC privacy fence as one big compound. so, we're going to run a fence on the right side to separate lots 11 and 32 from out property. Little did I know the existing fences were so screwed up. I'm trying to find out from the city how close I can get to the propertyline at the top of the picture so I can maximize my yard. There is a street there, so I might not be able to go to that northern property line.
weird, just weird.
Not trying to "pour gas onto the fire" but it looks like house 32 is not square to it's property lines either. Most evident on it's right side in the picture.
Garage on lot 34 s not square to its lot either.
The right side property line of lot 33 does not line up with the right side of lot 10 either.
Is it possible that the fence line on lot 34 and 33 is dictated that the fence can not be forward of the lot 32 house. As in, no fencing forward of the neighboring house? Although, this s somewhat contradictory to your lot 10 fence going so far forward...but there's no house on there side of lot 10???
Find your municipal zoning/codes. It will be online and then read it thoroughly.
Look for set back requirements. Could be something different at the top of 33 & 34, road nearby, line of sight? Or just ask the Building Inspector. (no specifics on location etc til you see how the conversation goes).

LOL points for having the noisy shop as far away from your house as possible. I have seen so much worse in terms of lack of ability/execution. The funny/sad part is you know he paid someone to do that work.
For lot 34 it almost looks like they were making the fence parallel to the garage instead of the property lines. :P

The shop/garahe came after the fence debacle. I suspect they made the shop parallel to the Stevie Wonder fence.
So much fail all around.
The house on lot 32 sold, I assume that lot 11 sold with it. I can only assume the whole fence is just as cattywhompus. It'll be interesting to see what they want to do.
I'll bet that this "lack of square ness" look more evident on paper than it does in reality.
Since house 32 is a new owner too, I'd never mention it to that owner. Accept that what seems to be the lot line is the lot line without squabbling over feet and inches.
Could be that the drawing is wrong too. Notice that the drawing says no structure on lot 33 but the picture says different.
The drawing also says your house has a detached shed but the photo says different. Actually, the drawn dimensions of your house don't match the photo of the house.
On a serious note, that would make me insane. It also looks like the out building isn't square to the fence OR the lot.
