I don't see the problem, he even went through the trouble of using a gas tank, it's not like he had a five gallon pail or a couple Miracle Whip jars.
Good god, it took me a couple of passes through those photos to realize that the oddly-textured material on the floor boards was actually the asphalt under the car.

Bah, just a copycat. My uncle did this back in 2007, only his version was better since he used propane.

Ive done that. I used the washer motor and a jerry can to get home after the fuel pump crapped out on a logging road.

Probably sitting that way because the front ends of the leaf springs broke through the floor. Even I wouldn't drive that thing.
I'm sure it's still safer than the Pinto Airplane...
