Wow. Just wow. That is the stupidest thing ever.
That ought to encourage further research on earthquakes there...
And by encourage, I or course mean completely shut down.

Hey, wait, does this mean if the tsunami warning system I just spent the last three years of my life on isn't perfectly clairvoyant, I COULD BE CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER? Welp, I'm berkeleyed. I knew I should have just gone and worked for Big Oil.
This is what happens when you let people with NO understanding of how reality works, call themselves a government. Unbelievable.
If you read the article at nature , it's a little more involved than that. Rather than issue a warning, they just said, in short, "Nah, it's cool.". It wasn't, needless to say.
