NAHUNTA, Ga. -- A Ku Klux Klan rally is planned for this small southeast Georgia city, and the mayor is urging people to go about their business.
The Knight Riders of the Ku Klux Klan has a permit for a rally in Nahunta, about 35 miles east of Brunswick in Brantley County, from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
City officials say the Klan group says it will focus its rally on illegal immigration and sex offenders.
City clerk Angela Wirth told The Associated Press the Klan organization's grand dragon says he's expecting a turnout of about 100. She says she's expecting the Klan to make its presentation and leave.
Wirth says that until now there has never been a Klan rally in the city.
A few years back there was an open klansman in the US Congress (still there?)
What do illegal immigration and sex offenders have to do with a staged rally event?

Kinda funny typo/scenerio:...bunch of Klansmen in row boats 35 miles east of Brunswick out looking for Nahunta....
I would say that 35 miles east of Brunswick is a great place for Klansmen, just make sure they are about 10 feet down...

I don't think Sperm Thurmond was ever in the Klan. But Robert Byrd was.
When you leave I95 in south Georgia headed west you enter a whole new country that may be on another planet. Even the redneck in me gets nervous in some of those towns.

Duke was in the Louisiana House, not the US House of Representatives. He ran for the US House and Senate, as well as for President. Sometimes as a Democrat, sometimes a Republican.
Senator Robert Byrd (D, WV) was in the Klan in the 1940's.
Thurmond was not.
Meh...we had those turds show up in our little area about 10 years ago. Tons of extra cops ready for a riot. No one showed up to complain. No protesters, or even the curious. Ha! We ignored them and the haven't been back.

By far the best thing I've heard this week.
We've had them here as well, but no one bothers to show up. I mean, one rally there were more camera men than spectators. And by spectators I mean a couple of people on lunch, walking through the square at the wrong time.
It's frightening how narrow minded they can be.
