PD

Kind of rare these days to have the media actually air a positive story about the 5-0. Very rare to have the honor to have a conversation with someone who was dead the last time you saw them. I've only been able to do it once in over 25 years. Pretty humbling.

MEDINA, Ohio-- The city's police chief is being called a hero for helping save the life of a man having a heart attack-- a man that happened to be one of the chief's biggest critics.

"He sure came through for me when I needed him," said Keith Trojak, Wednesday, referring to Medina Police Chief Patrick Beraducci.

Trojak says he now credits the chief with saving his life.

On March 23, Trojack went into cardiac arrest at his home. His son, Darren, called 911 and started CPR.

Moments later, Beraducci arrived on scene and took over. He continued CPR until firefighters and a life support team arrived. Trojak was taken to the Cleveland Clinic.

"He just helped out so much," said Darren Trojack.

The Trojack family calls the chief a hero. But Beraducci says he did what he was trained to do.

"Saving a life is a pretty big deal and I will forever be proud of that," the chief said.

And the Trojak family says they will always be grateful.

Keith's family and friends are having a benefit for him from 12 to 9 p.m. May 21 at the Medina Moose Lodge to help with medical expenses. The chief says he will be there.

PimpM3, Woody, and all the other LEOs, FD, first responders, and EMS on the board, thanks for your service!

X2 on the thanks.

And a shout out to Medina County, I grew up next door in Wadsworth but fled in 1997.

I really don't hear the words "Moose Lodge" anymore (unless I'm cracking a joke about somebody's hair - which generally draws blank stares of confusion)

Ugh. My friend's dad is a member. We went there for a dinner one time a little after I got out of high school. Thoroughly depressing place, and the spaghetti sucked too.
