One for sale within driving distance. All the 5.0s are $500 +, then I have to buy a tranny. Guy is selling a 32 valve 4.6 with the engine management ECU stuff and a 4 speed automatic. Buying this for the '84 Benz (formerly diesel).

Thoughts?

Thanks, Dan

Huge, massive engine. No torque, not much top end. Can be built to ridiculous levels with cubic piles of hundred dollar bills.

It's more or less a Cobra engine with, IIRC, a more squashed intake.

I am assuming that it is a rear drive engine. Yes, Lincoln put these in front-drivers, too. Make sure you know what you're getting, the front drive engine is deceptively cheap.

It's not a bad engine. Yes, it's expensive to build up, but if you're going to leave it alone and just bolt it up and go, it's a very refined piece.

Looks big & heavy, also looks RWD.

I much prefer something carbed. There's a 440 for sale nearby but coming p with a 727 to match is a challenge.

Wider than a Kardashian.

The only real reason I see for this engine is that it looks awesome and seems to tolerate stupid amounts of boost.

This apparently is a thing that exists if you really want a carb. Not sure what the answer on the ignition is though.

There is a kit now for the 3V. There is a module you use to control the timing through the stock COP.

You'll need to log in to post.
