Disagree. Reacher, Wheel of Time, Upload, Good Omens etc. All good stuff.
Wheel of Time was the okayest series on Amazon. The rest were good. Reacher was solid, and Upload is freaking hilarious.

Game adapatations generally blow it. Im looking at you Netflix's Witcher...
The Witcher started off as books. The series actually draws more heavily from those.
That's not why they blew it.
I agree on all fronts - I do believe Witcher hit critical mass once it was a game. I dont know if it wouldve been popular enough to garner a series when it was solely literature, though I suppose thats up for debate...but also kind of moot.
The production had a good thing going, and then tried to get cute, and ended up pushing out a dumpster fire akin to what you push out after your 3rd gas station burrito. Its unfortunate that Cavil exited, but I cannot fault his decision.
I read several of the books. When it's short stories, they're pretty solid but not exceptional. When he starts trying to spin a larger plot it gets really clunky really fast. Even at their best, they were not anything that was going to jump out of Poland to worldwide renown.
CD Projekt Red picked what was best and most interesting about the world he created and actually built far more compelling stories that pushed the Witcher into the spotlight.

I've been playing the Fallout games since the very beginning, but for some reason, I always stop playing them. I think the subject matter makes me feel unsettled for some weird reason, so I always stop. Always been more of an Elder Scrolls guy anyway. That said, this looks good enough for me to check out.
I'm just the opposite... I feel better after playing them.

Movies like The Tomorrow War, Jolt, All the Old Knives, without remorse... all good.
For this series to be good, they will need to recapture some grit from the older games. I feel like it will be as big a letdown as fallout 76.
Opened this expecting to see Mass Effect, but I'm willing to accept Fallout too
Watching Last Of Us now.....hoping for about that good

I'm cautiously optimistic. The Last of Us series proved that turning a video game into a TV show can actually work–and not suck. I'm hoping that the creators of this will have that same success.
At the end of the day, I'm not going to complain about having more Fallout content to enjoy.
P.S. I'd love it if the TV show included a game bug or two.
From what I understand (having not seen it) TLOU worked because they didn't make an adaptation. They made the game into a show, with almost no deviation. If you've played the games, they're phenomenal. Probably the best reason to own a PlayStation right now.
I don't have high hopes for this series. No particular reason other than watching big corporations drive everything I've ever loved directly into the ground for a quick buck.
That being said, there already is a Fallout show. It's called Nuka Break, and you can find it on youtube right now. It's fan made and pretty good.
And their power armour makes amazons look like crap.

76 isn't great now, but the dev team has been grinding away with updates and it's definitely decent, especially considering they practically give the game away now

I know what I'm watching when I get a chance to sit down!

I could not imagine having to make a Mass Effect show.
Personally if it wasn't a redheaded renegade colonist Fem-shep kicking arse across the galaxy and romancing Garrus Berking Vakarian, I wouldn't want to watch it.
And I'm sure every other commander would feel the same way about their playthrough. It's just too much of a minefield.
Just give me Elcor hamlet and I'll be happy.

Never played the game.
There's a whole series with really only a couple shining jewels.
Fallout: New Vegas is easily the best of the series and remains a strong contder for THE best computer Role Playing Game ever made.
Judging by the trailers, looks like that's what they're leaning on most heavily... but I also strongly suspect they're not going to understand.
my vote for best RPG goes to KOTR the original (early bioware at its best)
Knights of the old republic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic
i love bethesda games, they are like comfort food. The 3 modern fall out games (3, new vegas, and 4) are all fun. I also enjoy starfield even if the story is, well its there...
That being said, I actually prefer the story in the wasteland games. Wasteland 3 is a much better story compared to any of the Fallout games.

Haven't seen LoU yet. But a mass effect show/movie would be pretty epic.
I watched the first nuka break last night. If amazon gets remotely close to that, it'll be amazing.
My daughter cant wait for season two for family movie night

I spelled out "Role Playing Game" instead of abbreviating RPG intentionally.
There are other games that have better stories or that are better all-around as games. But Fallout New Vegas I think stands above everything else in its ability to let you decide what ROLE you want to play in the story and present you with meaningful choices that have significant impact on the way things play out.
The only other games I can think of in the same league are Tyranny and Disco Elysium which are much smaller. New Vegas is a AAA game.
In reply to AClockworkGarage :
You aren't wrong and that is one reason video game movies don't usually work, people are heavily invested in the character and it's "them".
As long as it isn't FemShep I'm onboard though. The character model is an actual person who apparently hates the series or otherwise that could be kinda cool

It's very good. My wife doesn't like horror related stuff but it's kinda.....horror adjacent and not horribly gory etc.
Next I'll try to get her to watch the first season on The Walking Dead
In reply to Beer Baron :
New Vegas was also Obsidian, not Bethesda, and that made a big difference. Supposedly they're working on a similar game that isn't fallout series. Looking forward to that.

Agree to disagree, Upload is great, the first season of Good Omens was good, and the shows with James May are entertaining, and I do enjoy Clarkson Farm. I haven't liked anything else or lasted past the second episode in their other shows. And with as horrible as their UI is getting and their coming inclusion of ads, I find myself avoiding using Amazon altogether. Rings of Power kinda sealed the fate for me as far as amazing potential squandered.
Although the only things I've liked Netflix has put out in the last several years have either Bert Kreischer or Ryan Reynolds in them, and the one season of Baking Impossible that got made.
I finally got to see the teaser trailer for this and boy does it look like crap.
Nuka break is a fan film with a microscopic budget but it is packed front to back with genuine love for the source material. I don't get that feeling from this.

I think you've got that backwards. Default Broshep is based on some model who couldn't care less. Fem shep is the good one with the better voice acting.

I don't know about the body models, but the voice actors for both Sheps are pretty well known to be fans of what they have done. Doing things like going to Cons dressed up in cosplay.

Yeah ism sorry that you're so wrong. It happens.
The thing about Mass Effect is that the story is already out there and has already been told, and you can't really use that universe to support another story because the one from the games was so monumental that everything fundamentally changed at the end. Retelling the story of the game doesn't really work without major rewrites because TV vs game media are so different, and that's in addition to the "MY shepard made different choices" complaints. So you wind up with something that neither original nor a faithful adaptation, and that's unlikely to please anyone.
Fallout, OTOH, is a universe where the stories in the games are much smaller in scope. That makes it much more conducive to writing a new story, set in a new part of the Fallout world where there isn't any inconvenient pre-existing plot to worry about.
